Finished TEW1 when it came out. It wasn't the easiest game but I liked the challenge of the clunky melee and slow, tankish movement. I wish the game's story had been a little more fleshed out in the first game but I still enjoyed it One of those games that makes you feel satasfied that you made it to the end.

Half way through my second playthrough of TEW2. It's been quite some time since I have done a replay immediately after finishing a game. The story is a little more fleshed out, visuals are great, and the combat is fun.moreso with a higher difficulty setting The first person mode can be kind of clunky at times but it does change things up for some extra tension or more accurate fire.

Plus it's fun when a game installs with multiple spoken and text languages to choose from. Surprised to see out-of-cutscene characters lip sync pretty well for any of the chosen spoken languages.

Have to say I haven't enjoyed a "horror" game of any genre this much in years. Makes me want to go back and actually finish all those Resident Evil games I never played.

Genuinely surprised at how good the sequel turned out. Not as hardcore as the first but still engaging and fun to play.

What's your experience with The Evil Within? Think there is a future for the franchise? Was the sequel a let down? Was the first game too clunky ?

*Not going to pretend that the "Natural Movement" anim ststem doesn't make laugh sometimes. Or when I fell through the level's sky globe all those times"

Not a chance since Mikami and his studio is hamstringed by Bethesda into making a goddamn RE4 clone. And just like Dishonored, they wrap up all the loose ends a little too fast in the sequel and majority of the writing was from that movie faggot who did the DLCs in the first game.

44ee97 No.15160882

I didn't really liked the first as it is a bit of a bait and switch from surreal to sci-fi. I get that's the point, but I'm too attached to my paranormal. The second game is completely upfront about being a virtual simulation, while still using that premise to get crazy, and it works much better that way in my opinion. I'm even a little sad it was a commercial flop.

TEW2 is kind of a joke, 90% of the enemies you can evade by walking briskly away. Not even kidding. Open world is a bad idea for a survival horror game. Rewarding players for kills is a bad idea. Rubberband item drops is a bad idea.

Overall it misses the point that RE4 was good because it was well-paced and had funny characters, not because it had good basic survival horror mechanics. A good survival horror game needs to go the opposite direction RE4 did, meaning less player bonuses, less resources, more dangerous enemies.

>90% of the enemies you can evade by walking briskly away.

That's true of basically all games. How do you think speedrunning is even a thing?

Very much enjoyed the grindhouse aesthetics, especially in the torture chamber under the mansion. I think probably its greatest strength besides the visuals was the variety of levels. I know to a lot of people it came across as inconsistency, and there's an argument for that, but I liked that you couldn't go a few minutes without something new and interesting to look at, and it's not like I was taking the pacing or story all that seriously anyway.

>One of those games that makes you feel satasfied that you made it to the end.

Well it was a thrill to find out that the villain was just a brain in a jar, for sure.

Didn't enjoy the sequel at all, I absolutely hated the villains and thought the open world killed the level design and pacing. It made a good first impression with all of the environmental interactivity, like distracting enemies by breaking a car window and sounding the horn, but finding out that the whole game was city levels separated by sewer levels was a crushing disappointment. I'd play a spinoff where you play as Kidman, though.

Walking, anon, not running. In a game that calls itself survival horror. Even most bosses you can evade endlessly by walking away as they come at you weapons flailing. Makes it all rather sad.

If not for the fact that the game is some ridiculous size that I don't feel like re-torrenting atm I would install it and make a webm for you. You'll just have to take my word for it. Most enemies and plenty of bosses can be evaded indefinitely by walking away from them. Try it on giant bitch with buzzsaw.

The sequel was made by that John Johanas guy who did the DLCs for the first game, Shinji Mikami said he wanted to stop directing. So there you go, two games that are inherently different and with mechanics that are for the sake innovation. Really didn't like the sequel because goddamn it, it was like some Last of Us-tier game with padded bullshit, didn't like how like Dishonored 2, they forgone all pretenses and just explained every fucking thing to you on a silver platter. And Ruvik is no longer a concern for some reason. Overall, the sequel was derivative and didn't have an identity, didn't even gave a damn about the Fatherhood shit when it was too hamfisted.

Also, here's some stupid "leak" that was spread about a DLC and third and final game.

Despite selling less than the first game Bethesda and Tango don't want to abandon this franchise at least until there's a complete trilogy.

>Evil Within 2 will have 3 dlc episodes and they want them to be better and longer than the dlc for the first game(expect to hear about the first and the season pass in january).

>The first one is focused on Esmeralda Torres and will show her kidnapping Lilly before the first game and the road towards her redemption in the second. It will be more action focused. It is called "The Plan" and the current release date is March 9 2018

>The second is focused on Julian Sykes and will show him exploring a sublevel of STEM after his side mission, Anima and some new beings will be present. Tango wants this to be the scariest part of the game yet, stealth will be a priority. It's called "The Lost" and it will be released in May.

>The third is considered to be the lead up to Evil Within 3 and will feature Joseph Oda as the playable character, the main portion of the dlc will take place during the evil within 2 main game but some of it will link to the computer screen seen at the end of the game. It is called "The Awakening" and it will release in July.

>Plans for the third game are already being made, the current idea is to have it set a few years after the second with Joseph, Kidman, Lilly and Ruvik being integral to the plot. They want to have some gameplay as Lilly to explore mechanics of controlling STEM.

For a publisher like Bethesda, they have a hard time making people care about their games that aren't Fallout of Elder Scrolls.

I loved the game truly, even for the many flaws it had.

Continuously while playing i wished it had copied the earlier Resident Evil games, not RE4 and 5.

My biggest Issue with it was the constant Cut-scene dragging. I felt like there was less gameplay than scenes.

I loved the characters and the story.

And god damn did they make Sebastian a likeable character and our german voice actor is superb. is he french?

The sequel is god damn nigger jew tier.

>Sebastian looks like some fucking spic.

>Subhuman characters included in the game, the game fucking reeked of Bethesda niggers sticking their dick in it.

>Fucking comment about Hitler.

>The controls were last of us bullshit.

>the enemies are retarded and blind, you can walk 20 meters away in front of them and they lose you

>The stealth is OP and combined with above you're not kill able

>The game isn't open world >>15161019 and only has 2 maps that are meh in size, adding absolutely nothing. It's mostly linear.

>It has some sort of back tracking if you will, since it's your choice but you get absolutely nothing from it, because there's nothing there. It has no point, literally.

i think a lot of Devs and players don't understand what open world means anymore.

It was a filler game, unnecessary and they also tried to cash in in TLoU Parent/child theme. Fucking Bethesda niggers.

Then there's little stuff that i disliked and some things i liked but that's probably too autistic to list.

I played EW1 around 4 times maybe.

EW2 only one time.

I only heard recently that they included a first person mode so i installed it, tried it out and de-installed the fucking game. That mod was shit.

You're going to have to point out the mestizo facial features, here. It's pretty obvious to spot nigger facial features but not so much on mestizo, since they're halfbreeds of spaniards and natives. The only noticeable differences I notice between the games are he has a beard and having more wrinkles around his forehead and eyes. Which I chalked up to age and stress than anything else. Also Castellanos is a spanish last name, dipshit.

You do realize that pic proves my point.

>One of the earliest surnames into the New World of the Americas, the recordings commence in Mexico as shown below

Hmmm who was the first to set up colonies in the americas. Spain.

>These recordings taken from original civil and church registers include Ribera Castellano at Asuncion, on August 24th 1669, Camallo Castellano at San Sebastian, Mexico

Oh would you look at that, that name you insisted that was french as a name for a town under spainish rule.

Also you have to consider the fact Castellanos bit was more of a homage to RE4 since that takes place in spain. And there's this shit:

>In the earlier drafts of the script where the game was supposed to take place in Spain, Sebastian was conceived as a native Spanish whose first name has a distinctively Hispanic pronunciation (Sebastián with an accent on the last syllable) before the diacritics were dropped in the final release.

I just pulled this shit off a fan wiki so I need to find the source. But it's pretty fucking clear to me, Sebastian is supposed to be of european spainish descent.

It's been a weird ride for me really. TEW1 wasn't bad, but I "power-drilled" through it fast in a couple nights and felt a bit meh at the end. It was also rather buggy (PS3 ver. close to release date), but it got better with updates that also did stuff like enable toggling the black bars. I haven't tried the DLCs yet, but will get to it eventually.

The weirdest thing was just as Yahtzee stated, the first chapter starts with some 'escape pursuer' mechanics and spooky shit, but once that's done you start ch.2 and it literally turns into RE4: Lite. Even the first enemy you find does the 'zombie turns head' callback to RE. This isn't bad per se, but it kinda struck as a weird 180º. The opening ch.1 is so different that it feels like you're playing a short demo for another game.

Now,TEW2: Got it on sale while I was on a mood for some "survival"/spook ride after RE7. It started out weird but it picks up fast and unlike TEW1 it doesn't do that whole genre flip when ch2. starts. It literally opens up once you reach the first proper safehouse, and that's where it just 'clicked' for me. "Open world" games nowadays tend to be shit because it's just huge expanses of empty lands that serve as padding and it feels fucking crappy. Instead here you get a ch.3 with a moderately sized urban area to explore at your leisure, with certain things put in order so that you have the right items (e.g. fuse switch requires you to find the electric harpoon weapon). The goal was going to the clearly marked point in the map, but with each block explored I'd get new doors to check, audio signals to trace, goodies to find (e.g. weapons). This made it feel really fresh and interesting - the area has no loading times to fuck you over unless it's a computer terminal transporter and you can find all sorts of cool optional things in the form of files, the audio log records, and the optional scenes where you get chased by that Ring-like woman, sidequest you get the TEW1 revolver from.

Ch.3 worked as a great high point for the title, followed by more linear couple areas right after that, and that was followed by another open urban area but slightly smaller. I really want more games like these. Stuff like Last of Us feels boring to explore because there's literally only one fucking route all over, whereas titles like TEW2 and even "I am Alive" try to make "open" worlds that aren't really so, but sure feel like they are.

The epitome of this kind of design was Silent Hill 1 - the city areas were quite big but you had a certain limiter (roadblocks) but if you were willing to explore you could find a lot of interesting items.

And yeah, sucks that TEW2 flopped, really. I find the chances of another entry highly unlikely…

I enjoyed both games. The first one was more of a grind in terms of dying, FOV, and movement but I still enjoyed it as a whole game. The second had me feeling more propelled than the first one because I had some semblance of what was going on and I'm not a hipster faggot that can't enjoy a well made video game. There is a debug console in both games btw, so you can further configure to your pleasure.

Sure, 90% of games coming out today are complete asspis, but nothing will live up to twisted nostalgia or high expectations.

TEW 1/2 are good games if you aren't a pussy or a whiner.

What out there is better than The Evil Within in your eye, anonzies?
