3.- Advanced Wars Rep, preferably Sami. her entire toolkit could revolve around commanding infantry, mech, etc and setting up an excellent neutral game and mixup

4.- Issac or a Golden Sun Rep. I want to see psynergy on all moves.

All these have perfectly valid chance to enter considering intelligent systems squeenix and konami are in on ultimate. The one with least chances would be an SMT rep, but I think it would be great, and Atlus would be honored

For most wanted newcomers, I'm not particularly sure. I'd love another representative of 80s arcades, Bub and Bob from Bubble Bobble could be a fun gimmick character. So could the Battletoads. Geno could have a fun moveset, and so could Simon/Trevor Belmont.

Why does anyone really want Banjo/Kazooie? I don't see a moveset that interesting for them. Conker could be more interesting with the context-sensitive gimmicks from BFD, Battletoads pretty much have a moveset already made in their own games, and even Steve could be a clever gimmick character.

I'd sorta like a more customizable Classic Mode, such as being able to toggle between a maximum of 4 player matches or 8 player matches, all matches of one type or another, or handcapping/enhancing the player in some way for more or less bonuses. I really didn't like how in Smash 4 you basically had to deal with an abundance of 8 player style matches and that effectively limited the amount of stages you'd see in a typical run. I'd also like a return of bonuses from Melee, with the exception of a few bullshit ones like All-Star No Damage Clear.

I want an Adventure mode without Subspace's autism. I want the "worlds" to be based on Nintendo franchises with their own art style and gimmicks. Pop Star or Kid Icarus would be the starter world because they feel the most similar to Smash. Then you go Mushroom Kingdom which focuses on platforming. Keep in mind, the plans were finished around December 2015, and by that point the game wasn't even out in Japan; that would mean Sakurai would have had to add an Undertale rep within 3-4 months of its western launch, and considering he usually prioritizes pleasing the Japanese fans over Western fans, unless the Japanese fanbase was somehow even bigger by that point I doubt he would have even considered it. At worst we'll probably get an assist trophy and/or a remix. Also if the nightmare scenario does happen, something tells me he's not including Sans himself, but rather Frisk, not only because of main character prioritization but also so he can attempt some gimmicky moveset regarding 'moral choices' or some shit.

1. Mother Brain and Kraid actually only appear in two games: Metroid 1 and Super Metroid (and Zero Mission but that was a remake of Metroid 1 anyway). Though the final boss of Prime 3 was kind of a call back to Mother Brain. Ridley on the other hand, has appeared in literally every Metroid game except for Prime 2, Prime Hunters, Metroid 2, and got added to Metroid 2 via retcon due to the Metroid 2 remake adding him in. Although technically Neo Ridley from Fusion isn't actually him, it's a clone of him animated by the X parasite. 2. Ridley has both more cool factor and more story-weight than either of the other two. Mother Brain was a Chozo AI that was coopted by the Pirates and Kraid was basically the Pirate's biggest destructive force, but both of them only had the chops to come back from the dead once each. Plus they both have even more of a "too big" problem than Ridley, I'm not sure how you'd even design movesets for them. Ridley on the other hand has been there from the start. He was the one in charge of the Pirates before takeovers by Dark Samus and Mother Brain, and was still doing a lot of the leadership work in the games where that happened as well. He's responsible for giving Samus such a hate boner for the Pirates since he basically Batman'd Samus. And he's a fucking alien dragon which is way cooler than the designs of either of the other two.

So here's a shot in the dark.

They've started allowing 3rd parties to have two reps. Mega Man and Ryu, for example. We shouldn't assume SEGA isn't getting another rep. And as these companies are probably more interested in showing off the breadth of their portfolio, I actually kind of doubt a second SEGA rep would be from the Sonic series. Anyone want to give their thoughts on who they might put in? Personally, I've got 2 ideas.

1) Joker from Persona 5. Atlus is a SEGA subsidiary now, and they've never been shy about crossovers with him. It would let them flex their variety vs Sonic.

2) "Hunter", which is a generalized moveset representing the weapons and spells from Phantasy Star Online. Different skins will let you play as the various race/job combinations without actually changing the moveset or character's physical build.

Thoughts on other 3rd party secondary reps also welcome. Keeping in mind that Snake is back. Raiden, maybe. Castlevania certainly seems like the current talk of the town, though.

The extra versions revolve around holidays, and due to aesthetic and story reasons, the only holiday it makes sense for P5 to revolve around is Christmas. Some kind of SMT rep seems the most probable. Sega has a lot of IPs in their portfolio, but SMT/Persona is one of their hottest ones at the moment, has a long history with Nintendo (including an upcoming mainline game for the Switch), and fits the style of Smash better than something like Yakuza would. I think if SMT5 is far enough in the design process to have a solidified main character design, that's the most likely representative (unless there's a Switch port/re-release of P5 planned that we don't know of).

Otherwise, I'd say a second Sonic rep is much more likely than anything else in Sega's catalog just because most of their IPs are fucking dead, except the ones that are selling hugely but would have trouble fitting in Smash (like Yakuza).

Having just played through the game, I'm a little bothered by how much I want Hollow Knight in Smash. Not only does his moveset line up perfectly with a full smash set (including aerials), the way he controlled in-game is decently smash-like. They could even incorporate the soul system to hold back his heavier moves (and to give him a 10% heal with B-down). The problems I have with my own desire are 1. He's third party. It's not a huge deal, but I know people don't like thirds. Fuck you though; Snake is great. 2. The transition from 2D to 3D would have to retain his artstyle flawlessly, otherwise there's no point.
