Picked this game up at a friend's game store a while back. It's pretty fun, why does nobody talk about it?

The original was a classic and inspired a lot of other classics. I'm not sure why you'd play the genesis version, though. It's a weird hackjob.

Star Control II did everything better and is the goto game for this kind of thing. Starflight still deserves a lot of respect for pioneering the space exploration concept and procedural content generation. I read somewhere they had to rewrite the algorithm several times until it spat out readable system names without swears, which was apparently very hard.

It was probably hard as the whole game is a large Forth program. It's possibly the only game written completely in Forth.

I dumped the GOG goodies pack on the share thread vola, It has all the docs and maps, not sure if they line up with the Genesis version, hopefully they didn't change too much and the maps still match.
