Well, I'm reinstalling it, so I figured I might get some other people to reinstall Dude Sex again, too. It's been a few years, so I'm rolling with GMDX since it was updated only last year, but I've beaten this game on Realistic three times. I need something fresh. What's the stupidest, craziest build I can make? I'll do anything you say, /v/.

GMDX is not great IMO. Fucks with the original a bit too much and the dev is a cunt, but if you use it make sure to get the newest patch in the files section of the page. It fixes some weird bugs like the full auto mod decreasing ROF of the stealth pistol if you change ammo.

The gameplay of Deus Ex is just shit to be honest. The story, characters, theming and music are all stellar, but it just plays like ass.

>Movement is sluggish as fuck, even sprinting is a snail's pace early on, as if am augmented human cloned from his brother into his mother's womb and observed by MJ12 until he became of age in perfectly fit condition required to do top secret shit couldn't run faster than a crippled retard on a wheelchair

>Have to stand still and wait for the goddamn crosshairs to zero in to shoot accurately, because that's how guns work in the future apparently

>Most silent/non lethal weapons make enemies go on alert instantly anyway, because an augmented secret agent doesn't known any CQC techniques to knock someone out on the first go

>Stun prod needs 2 charges to take down one guy in most cases, rendering the risk of having to sneak up close to attack needless and not viable at all, because people in the future haven't yet figured out how to make a taser that incapacitates/KOs in one hit

Might as well run around killing everybody if the game's gonna be this much of a bitch when you try playing stealthy. It's a shame because I really like the way the game presents itself, but, but the gameplay is a fucking slog. It's not even a hard game, it's just boring.

I have never upgraded athletics in my 5 playthroughs of DX and movement speed has never been an issue for me.

>>Have to stand still and wait for the goddamn crosshairs to zero in to shoot accurately, because that's how guns work in the future apparently

Mod and upgrade. A non issue after 3 levels because if you keep your focus your accuracy mods will fix this in zero time.

>>Most silent/non lethal weapons make enemies go on alert instantly anyway, because an augmented secret agent doesn't known any CQC techniques to knock someone out on the first go

Baton can knock out in one strike totally unupgraded, but it's a pretty precise spot at the lower back, rather than the head like you would assume.

See the video I just recorded, sorry for shit brightness but I couldn't change it in game because it was borderless.

If using crossbow your strategy should be to fire at your enemy and take cover until they tick down to 'run away' HP or full KO.

>>Stun prod needs 2 charges to take down one guy in most cases, rendering the risk of having to sneak up close to attack needless and not viable at all, because people in the future haven't yet figured out how to make a taser that incapacitates/KOs in one hit

Above. Lower back is a one hit KO.

Near the rear crate entrance to the statue IN THE VERY FIRST MISSION there is a garage with a laser mod. Put it on your pistol. Draw your pistol and turn the laser on. Point at dudes, boom pinpoint accuracy for headshoots.

The Nameless Mod replaces file assets and you need a specific Deus Ex executable which Steam doesn't have. Even then after about 4-6 months the Mod will break if you try anything like restoring Deus Ex back to the original and try to change it back.

I installed the GOTY gog version and I think I applied that one fix everyone says to get, but it's running a little weird. Objects aren't on the same plane sometimes, and will start being cut if I look at them the wrong way. Any ideas on this? Also is there a brightness mod? I know it's muh dark cyberpunk but it's just on the border of being annoyingly dark.

Oh, it's called Deus Exe by most.

I don't really know what could be the cause of those issues. I don't know what you mean by not being on the same plane, but on the cutting off, that is a Unreal Engine behavior. If you look away from objects they deload, try setting your FOV lower as you don't notice it that way.

On brightness, check your video card software. On AMD, alt+Z opens the overlay where you can change things like brightness, contrast and saturation. Nvidia has something similar but I am not an Nvidia user.

I just doesn't make sense to me that a character that's introduced as a $50-billion-dollar secret government experiment would start out this "crippled" gameplay-wise. It breaks the narrative the game heavily bases itself around.

It'd understand it if you lost all your upgrades and equipment at some point when JC figures out about UNATCO's schemes but he starts out green when he could've very well started out like one of the terminator-tier toaster-voiced MJ12 agents. It could be argued that he needed to be made weaker and less experienced than Paul because he betrayed UNATCO but he is fully able to do so as well. He's even weaker than older cyborgs like Gunther (who actually have self-destruct devices in them in case they rebel), so what was the point of making him weak and inexperienced from the beginning instead of a cybernetic superman who knows how to operate weapons due to memory implants and can break necks at breakneck speed? What was the point of wasting 50 billion dollars on a cybernetic agent and then give him grunt-tier equipment (barring the GEP gun) at the start instead of giving him something much more efficient for his job? What was the point of making it an RPG at all?

>>15130820

Yeah I know about it. Liberty Island was easy on non-lethal either way.

>Who gives a shit about Deus Ex's lore?

>Do you want to be invincible and have perfect accuracy all the time from the get go?

Like I said, the plot could've very well revoked all the perfect stats at some point early in the game after JC's trials are over. The story offers countless ways to do it.

790a0e No.15130969

>>15130949

Because it is highly experimental and brand spanking new. The augs you find aren't something that anybody can pick up at the supermarket. Granted there is a line somewhere where someone tells you that your nanoaugmentations are going to be released worldwide soon. It could also be argued that Page simply wanted JC to be weak until he knew he could completely trust him. Give someone the means to shine but not make them godlike from the get go.

>who actually have self-destruct devices in them in case they rebel

So does JC and Paul if you played the game.

93ed4b No.15131055

For some reason on my first playthrough I thought the tranq crossbow was actually good. Just that you'd have to wait for someone to be isolated then take them out, but it allows you to do so without having to risk getting caught while repositioning behind them like with the prod. As opposed to just taking out an entire group in one go like you can in modern games.

Then I played the game again years later and it was absolute dogshit. I have no idea why I though it was good. I was playing on realistic difficulty both times.

That's what I thought after my first playthrough, but I realized that most of the game is close quarters or extremely wide open. All the wide open areas have robots and commandos, which the tranq is kinda useless for (commandos need 2 headshots). The inbetween places are really rare.

ce25cc No.15131148

Listed Most imporant to least:

Athletics

Stealth

Hacking

Electronics

Lockpicking

Specialized weapons of choice

Medicine

Environmental Training

Are all essential if you're on the harder settings. Combat skills are optional as for the most part you can avoid combat entirely and should where possible, the AI on the harder difficulties will fuck you up. Electronics should be used for the wireless camera hack perk as on the harder modes they detect instantly plus it comes in handy. Hacking is as OP as it was in the vanilla game, if you're playing with pay-to-save feature in GMDX then its even more important to max the fuck out of it as you total number of saves are limited based on the game economy with is also finite. Atheletics is important because it improves your climb which can be used to avoid a lot of combat something vanilla doesn't allow you to do, its also useful because you sprint longer and can also swim. Stealth is very important because the AI is very good at spotting you now, they give you barely any warning now on harder difficulties.

My go to for weapons training is normally

Low-Tec

Rifle

Heavy

Demolition

Pistol

Though in all honesty getting all of them leveled in some shape or form is best because you chew through ammo in GMDX. Low Tech is my go to because of the DT, maxing it out means ammo problems are gone. Rifle is number 2 because you can out range most enemies and I think it still blows up doors and cameras at max level with the sniper rifle.

The augmentations I can't really comment on because I didn't get past Hong Kong on hardcore. Basically ran out of money and soft locked myself. I'd advise getting turning that setting off, its probably the only part I didn't like about hardcore, the save point system was awesome though that you could only save once in certain areas. Completely prevented save scumming for me which I really liked.
