How do you prevent greasy peripherals? I wipe them with with alcohol using a qtip and it does a good job, but after a few days they get greasy from the natural oils in hands, it's annoying to have clean them all the time. I hate glossy finishes. Also general mouse and keyboard thread.

Forgot bost. I have an older gen Zowie FK from 2013 and it's the best mouse I've ever used. I've had to replace the mouse switches once but it's still in great condition. It's light, no drivers needed Fuck you Razer best mouse shape and great sensor. A lot of people say that the mouse switch is too stiff and I'd sort of agree I don't know how the new ones are, but I'm not looking to buy a new mouse anytime soon. I was gonna buy a Nixeus Revel, but decided not too, has the same best mouse shape.

By not being a greasy person. I don't eat a lot, and I wash my hands frequently.
My preferred mouse is the Microsoft Optical Wheelmouse. Just a basic 3 button, ambidextrous optical mouse with a wheel. Alas, they seem to have fagged up the design as of late, and old stock is looking hideous.

NEVER EVER, FUCKING EVER buy a mouse from Razer.
I didn't buy it myself I got it for Christmas because my other mouse was broken, but the mouse I got is fucking awful. If I'm playing any game that requires a lot of CPU or RAM or something, every 5 fucking seconds, my shit-tier Razer Mamba Tournament mouse will stop working and refuse to move the mouse on screen until I unplug and replug the USB. This has resulted in game overs and deaths constantly, and I am getting very sick of this shit. Also, I tried to contact customer support, but those botnet fuckers wanted my full name, email, phone number, date of purchase, origin of purchase, etc.

The trackball provides me with comfort beyond words, unparalleled precision, and countless hours of video game acuity. With its low form factor, I am free to have an ice cold beverage to my right, something a conventional mouse prevents. When I am not going positive in every competitive shooter by a margin of 8:1, I am reaching over for a refreshing sip. There is nothing a trackball can't do.

Only downside of it is that now I have to right click and click open in new tab when browsing hentai galleries. In sadpanda it's kinda hard too because when you get too low on the list the forms start opening upside down and you have to move your mouse really far away from the first click to select open in a new tab.

mouses back in the day used to use a ball to track motion, you would slide around the surface with the ball touching the mousepad, problem with this is I recall, not reliable and prone to failure, so a few other options is optical mouses the one you have today that shoots a laser and does gay shit, then you have a trackball which is just the mouse before but instead of a ball that slides around, it's a ball you move stuck in one place, the ball is also coated in a better surface/pattern so it's easier/accurate to track.

WMO is kind of overrated, the low polling rate meme is real and is really annoying. I think there's a way around it, I can't quite remember. It's light which is nice, but it's tiny so only fit for traps with dainty hands.
G400 had a good sensor but was fucking impossible to clean, the old model looked okay but the new model is hideous. They're both also heavy as hell.
I really hate the FK1's mouse wheel, for a mouse that can cost double that of a g400, it's pretty embarressing. Otherwise 10/10. Light, nice form, doesn't looke embarressing to use at a lan, rarely need to clean it, great sensor, haven't had any issues with liftoff.

Too much DPI fucks your ability to make precision movements. I prefer the lower DPI mice where I can accurately target individual pixels than the high DPI mice where the damn thing shoots around. no, this isn't helpful at all, because most mice use interpolation to achieve very high resolutions past around 4000 DPI (6400 DPI for recent high-quality mice)
there's no reason to try and artificially make use of crazy high DPI settings, 800-1600 DPI are just fine for anyone and you don't gain anything by using a stupidly high DPI setting
cbe8c5 No.15125275

with that said, just because a mouse says 12,000 or 16,000 DPI isn't a bad thing; in fact, those mice use the best mouse sensors around with high acceleration ratings (up to 50 Gs on the latest sensors) and high maximum tracking speeds (up to 400 inches per second, see pic related). those are qualities you want in a gaming mouse.
don't be sucked in by bogus claims of 2KHz reporting either because it's horseshit, techreport.com just did a review of 2KHz mouse and said pretty much all 2KHz mouse are like this: https://techreport.com/review/33876/cougar-revenger-s-gaming-mouse-reviewed
