I remember this rich kid in my school who bought a PS3 right at launch with a very fancy new HDTV (we were the only two to have HDTVs at all, and I only had one because my dad worked in a business setting up antennas and shit).

Of course he had it hooked up with the yellow composite cable and was still praising it how HD and shit it is. What pisses me off infinitely more is when I'm trying to plug in 3.5mm audio cables and they aren't even fucking color coded, just have a slight relief with an icon or letters. Like holy shit, my vision is poor but even if I could read braille I couldn't decipher your tiny fucking headphones relief. So now I have to shine light on your stupid cable just so I can plug it in the right place when colors are much more visible even in low light. Happens most frequently with headsets that have a mic. I have also seen sound cards that don't have color coded ports.

I take really good care of my consoles, controllers, and cartridges/discs to keep them in good condition. And then my younger siblings and their retarded friends use to come over and show absolutely no respect. Scratching up discs because they left them outside and didn't return them to the box. Spilling drinks over my controllers or playing with their unwashed dorito hands. I even once gave my brother a hand-me-down ps2 and the controller got busted up within a month. The cap of the analog stick was broken off and the controller port didn't want to connect anymore. I was so mad at the time. Conventional GPS is not that accurate. My old Nexus 4 had difficulty even getting lock, while my new S7 generally gets it within seconds. Still, it claims an error estimate of about 2m at best, and that's just for horizontal. For elevation you generally multiply the estimate by 2.5. I couldn't help him because I had never even used the composite output, always used hdmi. But I was sure that's the reason it wasn't working for him, and suggested him to test it somewhere with a flat screen tv and a hdmi cable. Tbh I don't know if the PS3 wasn't detecting and auto switching to his shitty output, or if the AV out could even be busted for all I know as I had never even tried it.

On the phone I couldn't hide how mesmerized I was that he was trying to hook up a PS3 to a CRT tv. I actually told him that the PS3 wasn't meant to be used with this kind of tv and that was probably the source of his problems.

I bought my first and last smartphone about five years ago now - I'm still using it, and it still works as good as new, because I'm careful with the shit that I own. The battery still easily lasts a fair few days between recharges, even when I'm using my phone to listen to music every day, and there aren't any scratches or cracks on the screen the trick is to not drop it on the ground because, like I said, I'm pretty careful with my devices.

My point is that needing to keep a battery at roughly half charge all the time just rubs my 'tism the wrong way. Ideally, a battery is a container that you can fill up with electricity to carry around with you, allowing you to use that electricity however and whenever you want, until there's none left and you've got to fill it up again - lithium-ion batteries fail spectacularly at this. I want a battery that can actually do its fucking job without suiciding (i.e., something that I can drain all the way to 0% and charge all the way up to 100% over and over without killing the fucking thing). I'm not asking for the moon here - I just want shit to work properly and make sense. I'm sick of having to babysit these useless fucking gadgets that are designed to fail.

A battery is something that you can put electricity into so that you can use it later. That's the purpose of a battery, and the better a battery is able to do that thing, the more ideal it is. It doesn't matter what method is actually used to accomplish that, just that it happens; regardless of whether a battery is lithium-ion, or nickel-cadmium, or lead-acid, or phlogiston-unobtanium, the implementation only matters for how the ideal battery can be approximated in reality. The only thing that matters about the finished product is its characteristics as a battery, and any caveats that need to be kept in mind in order for it to continue functioning (and obviously, the less of those there are, the better).

I don't have all the answers, and I never claimed to. I'm just frustrated by the shortcomings of li-ion batteries, since they're everywhere and in everything these days. Maybe li-ion batteries being so finicky about how they get charged really is unavoidable and there's nothing that can be done to improve it at all, but it seems more like that aspect is just being deliberately ignored, and all resources getting put towards squeezing a few more milliamp hours in there, so that tech companies can keep having dick-waving contests about who has the higher number.

Low as in around a quarter full or so, then charged back up to three quarters (if I remember to take it off charge again before it's full), and letting it hit 0% then charging up to 100% maybe once every month or two.
