I barely got Shinobi to run on a PS3, but the thing sounds like it's going to take off after 5 minutes of play. So I try to play through as fast as possible and I've only barely got the hang of the controls. I'm just now realizing I'm supposed to be dashing from enemy to enemy or dashing around them when they strike for a counter attack asskicking.
I remember playing this game at a store and I could not for the life of me figure out how to move because I was too autustic to use analog thumbsticks. Any time I came to that store people (kids mostly) always left the game at level 1-B because they never bothered to wallrun.

i played shinobi for the ps2/ps3 and it felt kinda weird, yeah I get to slash everyone and then go nothing personnel and see everyone fall to their knees but it could be better.
Ninja Gaiden both NES and the xbox remake are superb in their ways with downfalls with each one, like Ninja Gaiden 2 for the NES has fairer bosses with the addition of the red clones you can make compared to straight up using jump n' slash to cheese or using the down slash to beat most of bosses

Been playing this for a long while now, it's an amazing game.
The Ninja part could probably be done a bit better, I don't like how floaty the movement feels sometimes, especially when you sprint.
But it does the stealth well enough, especially the "you will barely stand a chance in direct combat".
What I like the most is the simulation behind it with the 3 lords, giving really nice background to it and changing the game not only as a consequence of what I do but also with each lord trying to achieve their objectives and I've gotta react to that as well.
I really wish more games understood the potential of including a side dish of politics that become gameplay and can be gamed around or used for context too.

I don't know why I so rarely see anyone praise Shadow Warrior, finally played it for the first time a few days ago.
It plays like the spawn of "Dark Messiah of Might and Magic" and "Serious Sam" with some nip aesthetics. The characters and banter is also great.
Though I would have liked some more melee variety, it's the most fun way to fight but the only katana upgrades are locked behind story progression and the upgrades themselves are a bit dull.

The controls are stiff and prone to making you do mistakes
The camera is a fucking piece of shit of early PS1 caliber
And despite all that once you tame the controls there is a bit of fun to be had, getting a strategy down as to how you do a segment perfectly while still having good ressource management (those are accumulated throughout the game so using all your shit in one spot on an early level will fuck you up hard in some later levelss) is pretty hard and interesting.
But you do have to deal with the controls and that's one tall order.
Oh and there's one move you will have to do often that can cause a minuscule alert that disappears almost instantly but still counts but is almost impossible to actually detect until you see the rankings, so have fun redoing the whole level several times for something you can't actually see 90% of the time, but then you don't have to care about the ranking unlike me.
Neither the PS2 or XBOX version is truly "definitive", there's barely any difference graphically, the PS2 version might have a few more dips in framerate whereas the XBOX version has some slightly downgraded geometry and a few more graphical issues, the control scheme is shit on either platform the least terrible one is having a pad with B/W as shoulder buttons on XBOX.

I tested the first level, wall jumping is fun and you get a teleport that will get you pretty far. You still go through the same fucking levels as the base game though which is disappointing.
