It depends what your into. If you haven't been through the ultima games at all theres a ton of them. If you like adventure games, theres the lucas arts games the sierra games as well. Its tough to give recs without

Kinda nitpicky honestly when you pick a genre that didnt even really exist in the same form at the time. There are good action games on dos, descent 1 and 2 are fantastic. The build engine fps games dont get enough love. There's a lot of stuff.
I mean if your gonna wanna just play the newest hottest games to be fair you still dont need steam. I cant get myself to pay for shit I really dont need to when Im pretty much never going to touch the multiplayer.

Well there are Blizzard games like HearthStone, Overwatch, StarCraft 2 and WoW, as they are BattleNet exclusives.
Microsoft also has Windows 10/Windows Store exclusives like Gears of War 4 and Forza Horrizon 3.
Maybe Ubisoft and EA had at one time some exclusive games on their platforms, but I think now all their games are also on Steam.
Maybe there are also some newly released MMOs that aren't on Steam, but I don't know much about that market.
So yeah, there are some games exclusive to other DRM platforms, and also on PC, now what OP?

To add to this EA games made after 2011 or so have been Origin exclusive with some older EA titles being on GOG. Speaking of GOG some older titles usually seem to be a timed exclusive like older Star Wars titles, there also SWAT 4 that used to be on Steam years ago but was removed and you can only pick it up on GOG now.
As for other modern shit Activision seems to be moving to battle.net for future releases. Destiny 2 is already bnet exclusive, and Blacks Ops4 has been announced as a bnet title. There's also Epic who have their own service that host Fortnite and Unreal Tournament 4.
