Faggot who played over 200h on it back in 2014: (and i won't even speak about SJW, even if you ignore it the game is bad, SJW is the the icing on the turd at this point)
It is bad, really bad. the only moment the game is great is in the verry 1st map after the intro. (then it is good until the jew villain evict you from your home like a bunch of Gypsies do not worry though, you will find another place to Squat )
The story is fucking short, the game hide it by asking you to grind points to be abble to unlock the next story mission, unlock maps (that will allow you to farm more points) etc … there is even a totally useless desertic map that cost an absurde amount of point and have nothing in it unless you want to grind more.
The villain who at 1st seems threatening is a joke, even more so than ultron. he always act and speak like he is winning, when he is always falling back. If the game did not put that "travel to the future" scene: there is no way that the vilain would seem threatning . Oh and of course: the final boss fight is laughable. but by the time i got there, he was already so pitifull i do not even think it would be possible to change that with a simple boss fight
so where did my 200h went ?
create a character=> have fun in the 1st few maps, reroll when it gets grindy.
Then combat: TERRIBLE.
mash the RT button (yes the game was design for console in mind so i used a controler this time).
playing as a mage is INCREDIBLY BORING since each spell cost 40-60% of your mana and mana regenerate at a fixed rate.
basically: throw a shitty weak spell mana down to 40% => press RT to use your 3basic attak loop until you have enouth mana to throw another 60%=> use another spell => RT again until your mana recharge from 0 to 60% usually they died by now thanks to your companions
You spend more time using basic attack loop than casting spell AS A FUCKING MAGE'
The only solution you have to actually enjoy and have fun when playing a mage is if you go with the Melee/battlemage Knight-Enchanter advanced class because each hit with your Sword aura yes i said sword aura, they litteraly copy/past it from feng shen ji and made it yellow give you some good amount of mana back and thoses spell have low mana cost. mix them with ice-type dash spell and it almost feel like you are playing an hack and slash due to how dynamic it becomes. (double dash, spamable spell, time dilatation) literraly day and night, that's why i finish the game once and only with the mage
Playing warrior is .. well see webm.
I had hoped DAI would be DA:Origin with dragon age2's combat.
It is not, it is DA2: with and even more simple combat system. no synch kills, even fewer spell, everything seems disconected (see webm)
Speaking about DA:I is more like DA2. the story is linear as fuck.
you are traveling half the continent and yet you CAN'T speak to your companion until you travel back half the continent and speak to then in your HQ for some meaningless chat.
The game is so broken that even during cutscene, NPC have their headgear (crown or stuff like that) ckipping through their head!. Come one, it's not like >i< was the one who decide to put an unfitting headset…
well even if i wanted to: i can't because you can't change their gear IIRC. Their weapons if their own and so if their armor.
Anyway i wont make an exhaustive post, speaking about this turd, piss me off:
<dragon age inquisition is NOT an rpg: it is an action/adventure game in the same vein as DA2 with weaker combat but better and more beautifull maps.
I insist: DA:I is NOT an rpg, there is nothing, no material to roleplay . Yes there is crasting and equipment but Tombraider, zelda, etc also have thoses things, that's not what define a rpg and yea you may "create your character" . but with the voice choice etc: you can't pick dwarf or qunari. That would break any RP. the character creation tool is also incredibly bad.
the only thing that really hyped me up and that i like in this game even to this day is this one moment/1st event when this music kicks in https://hooktube.com/watch?v=-kAzdsOqy4A … Funny enouth it happend at the beginning and pretty much divide the moment when the game was"good" or at least: "ok" this last flicker of goodness and then bad in all the possible ways (SJW, vilain becoming laughable and patheticly pitiful, grind etc…) This moment was litteraly a last, death rattle scream.
