They've been asked about it numerous times and Geff Kaplan said that it was highly unlikely they'd jump on the bandwagon due to how "battle royale" games require large open maps and lots of players. It's written with the most 1 dimensional characters you could possibly dream off, where all the protagonists are the worst Mary/Gary Sue/Stu's ever seen on film, Rey is a literal god character who does everything better than trained Jedi Masters do after decades of training she masters in 2 hours, she's also the most educated person in the universe able to pilot shape ships better than trained pilots, can fix literally anything without knowing what it is, has force powers stronger than Luke who is 70+ by this point, is an expert marksman and combat specialist and on and on and on

The best part is the 2nd of the new trilogy Mark Hamill wasn't taking the directors shit laying down at him turning Luke from the most optimistic person in their reality into angry grandpa who drinks blue milk hot and fresh from the cow making snarling faces and wouldn't let them script it/write Luke out, and they killed Luke off in post much to Hamill's distinct horror, he looked like he wanted to shove a screwdriver into the directors head at the screening. After months and months of him bad talking the film Disney threatened to sue him and now whenever he talks about the movies he has to put on this fake "YEAH IT'S LIKE SO GOOD" mocking voice facade

Then Rey goes to find Luke, defeats Luke at every opportunity, is proven to be more powerful and wise than him, easily beats the shit out of a dozen highly trained elite guards saving Kylo in the process and then goes to lift a mountain's worth of stone with the Force.

And keep in mind that she does of this the span of two movies, that take place over a period of a maximum of two weeks, without any shred of training. In fact, she's so perfect she doesn't need training. And this after Luke Skywalker, one of the most potent Force users in the saga, spent the first movie running away from Vader like a bitch, spent the second movie being trained by a demented midget and getting pummeled into submission by Vader, and only actually matching (and barely at that) Vader in the third, needing to be saved by him from the far more powerful Emperor.

Fuck Kathleen Kennedy and every woman in the West. They all need to beaten into submission again.

Kinda like the traitor sequence, non-lightsaber close combat is instantly a hundred times more interesting because we've already seen 6+ movies worth of light saber fights which have a low creativity cap due to a combination of the nature of the weapon, and how much the writers have to kneecap what you could do with a lightsaber + force because it would be too powerful

What's infuriating about this isn't just the idea that references to the original films should make up for the new ones being shit. It's that Disney has been doing everything it can to alienate the "true star wars fan." 90% of the Star Wars works I was a fan of got declared non-canon when they took over.

I can't get over the fact that they did literally nothing with him from all I've heard, making me quite happy to have never bothered with the films. Nothing about Snoke's philosophy or background of note was communicated as far as I've heard. He had some vague role in getting the First Order out into the unknown regions using some throwaway spooky bug-navigators, generically called Attendants. He was a Sage of Dwartiiaboo like Palpatine, per his inscribed ring (which is a rough looking piece of shit but has some charm to it) which also had a fat chunk of Vader's nu-canon tower on Mustafar. He appears to be traveled and learned. He is a Dark Side user, explicitly not a Sith, but is not clarified as a Dark Jedi or any other brand, leaving the interesting question of where he lies, especially with his atypical fetish for 'balance' like some kind of nega-Yoda. It suggests that he's taken more than a page from the book of Sheev as far as being a scheming bet-hedging bastard and then colored it in his own light.

Despite the generic 'geriatric fuck' look, it's justified in the fact that he is dressing for comfort first and gilding after, because his shit is fucked up and he's not gonna let anyone talk shit about the fact he's wearing slippers with inserts for his aching heels. But we never learn why his shit is all fucked up, for time and the fact they didn't even try to communicate it. Or maybe they naively intended to make a Snoke-centered prequel film showing the rise of the First Order, which might be the only film to attract serious positive attention thanks to the swathes of Empire fans, which is paradoxically bound to be axed first as any plans Yidsney have wither on the vine in the face of milqeutoast financial 'success' and continual failure everywhere else, which may suck the dollary lifeblood out of the former. They even fucked up pandering to China, their ace in the hole if all else fails.

Really, it's easier to just quote the hack director himself as to the fuckery going on.

Everything revolves around this shit character, warping and destroying anything and everything of potential interest in Nu-Wars. Technical/weapons shit is no good because the designs are either retarded, too close a retread or are explicit refits of old designs, look fucky, or in the case of the superweapons (which were born from hubris and stupidity, 'make it bigger' bullshit, but the end results were still interesting) get destroyed in far more contrived and unjustified fashions than the Death Stars already were. All the old universe is being figuratively or literally burned away like the Jedi library, or getting the Brendan treatment like Han and Luke. The political angles seem to somehow be even scanter than the original trilogy, because it's all just a skeletal badly defined rip of the post-Imperial Civil War period.

Why would you want to know about any of this? Rey and Poe and whoever the fuck that you don't care about are on screen. They don't know any of this anyways, because they're fucking flat un-character dunderheads, so how would they communicate it to you? When the only character that can elicit a little bit of curiosity is an Andy Serkis motion capture man, who is used as a pure throwaway, why should anyone give a fuck about these films? No love, no craft, no competence, just checklists of fly-in-your-face shit that won't work that they follow to the letter. The sheer amount of incompetent fuckuppery is making me inclined to believe that this garbage is explicitly some kind of demoralization operation, an outwardly petty means to create undercurrents of discontent and alienation in people in the hopes that it will beat them down instead of making them yell louder, and otherwise just feed into the disruption of the social matrix. Through sheer idiotic disservice to space wizards and laser gun battles.

One part of the problem with nu-SW is that they ignore this and don't know or care about all the inspiration and homages that came before, so it just becomes (nu-) SW regurgitating (old) SW now with extra woman and minorities characters for the cast.. Which I assume is part of the reason why they keep scavenging all the old unused Ralph McQuarrie SW concept art (like original R2D2 concept art being used for both Chopper (concept of astromech with little arms) and BB-8 (concept art if droid with spherical base)

Rogue One at least took inspiration from war movies to sort of do it's own thing (within the limits of being a prequel) and that why I think it feels like a better movie (not by much) than ep VII.
