The only way to turn that trend around is to sing songs together with people and encourage others to join in. Not simply listening to "classics", which are just one step removed from the thing you are complaining about, but songs almost everyone where you live will know. Listening to someone else sing for you and only for your ears is a fairly modern concept, since in the past people didn't have devices to blast music in their ears at will. In bars the singing you sometimes hear will often be traditional songs, since those will be ones everyone will know and thus anyone can join in. Of course, I am assuming that even those haven't been completely corrupted.

Well I did propose a solution at the start, the only issue is that it is difficult to kickstart. The solution is in of itself a replacement for the thing being replaced.
