Here's something Eltonel put in a previous drawthread. You usually use line weights for different purposes:

I can't seem to stick to a single program, I always seem to keep jumping around. This time I'm using autodesk's sketchbook and the watercolor brush to see what I can accomplish.
Anyone out there got any tips on linework? I did a rough trace and then spent a good hour with a weighted stabilizer tool until I wanted to murder someone.

The plain human is a mess. gorilla arms, legs don't look properly weight bearing and are way too short based on how you dropped the crotch of the jeans. Since the character is not in the crazy styised realm you're just left with proportion mistakes. Honestly it looks like a dif artist drew him that's how the big the quality drop is.

You're not gonna grow as an artist if you keep jumping programs, anon. Identify a program with features that you're happy with and stick with it.
The limitations of the program will force you to be creative with what you have and it's there where you'll get better

You should practice with life drawing and on pencil/ paper. The goal is for you to draw loose and fast. Obsessing over a particular line will affect the overall quality of a work.
Stick with autodesk or krita since they're the best free ones out there.

This both true and false. You should stick to one program but there's a small problem with that sometimes. If someone's main drawing program is Sai then you run into the problem of them not having any straight-edge tools for technical stuff. The way I see it, you need to do two things with your drawing program:
1. It can make the brushes you want (Ex: I was using FireAlpaca for a little bit but the lack of brush options made me go back to Sai)
2. It has the tools for more technical stuff, particularly hard shapes and straight lines
After some experimenting with other software I've returned to my old ways of using a combination of Sai and Photoshop to get the results I want. Clip studio paint is pretty good but it keeps changing it's mind every other day on if it wants to work with my Ugee monitor and Krita is alright too but the interface makes me feel ill.

As in, once you know the grueling effort and processes that go on behind the scenes when trying to make art look right, you'll have a hard time ignoring those details every time you look at something and maintaining your prior, naive appreciation of various images.
The way sausage is made is generally pretty gross. If you've gotten a good look at the manufacturing process, you might be a bit put off by being reminded of it. Various less-appealing chunks of animal being added to the meat and stuffed into intestines.
The ol' "what has been seen cannot be unseen" sort of deal.
