The combat is by the books and generic with nothing creative or fun about it while actually being more dumbed down and restrictive than God of War 3. No jumping which removes an aerial moveset and attacks bosses throw at you, no real juggling, a terrible camera for an action game with a crowd control weapon (God Hand is an exception due to the way dodging and many of the attacks work combined with the enemy's attacks taking advantage of this), only 2 weapons, and a crippled moveset. None of the enemies are even that threatening compared to the earlier games and the difficulty is a joke. All the crafting shit is just multipliers instead of giving you things that actually add depth to the game like new attacks or movement options. Outside of combat it's like The Last of Us with tons of walking and talking and tons of cutscenes.
Another thing is the music. Very damn generic orchestrated and atmospheric music. Lets ignore that the older games at least had some memorable tracks, that doesn't excuse this game for having such a forgettable soundtrack that's appropriate for modern cinema. For some reason AAA games seem to love skipping out on having a good soundtrack.
Here's God of War's soundtrack. It sounds like something that's more appropriate for a nature walk most of the time instead of an action game.
