The problem with this is that the entire game (barring the really grindy shit like fishing and slaying monsters) is balanced around singleplayer. Even things that take a lot of time at first (like watering) are mitigated by later tech (sprinklers).
There isn't really anything to DO with multiplayer. It's not like Minecraft where you have an infinite amount of space and resources to fuck around with. It's a small map. People are getting this idea in their heads about playing a comfy game with friends meaning it'll be even more comfy, but there's NOTHING TO DO with them.

Somehow I don't think you've actually played too many Harvest Moon games. Marvelous has been shitting out miss after miss every 6 months for over a decade with no apparent understanding whatsoever for what made the best games in the series actually good. Stardew Valley makes an attempt to get at just that, and while it may still be plenty flawed, it's easily better than ~90% of the trash in the Harvest Moon series.
