Well, DF is getting magic in the next major update, and it's supposedly going to be procedural magic systems. So in one world you can have magic activated by music, while another has people able to teleport by sacrificing some blood, and another just has scrolls and wands.

Of course, that's what's planned. I'll have to see it to believe it.

I'd say it's easier, there's not as much hunting around through various menu screens, has its own obtuse controls in places still but trial and error wise it's a lot easier to end up overpowered just naturally doing things.

I went into Doft Fort knowing nothing about it aside the art style and that there were elves and humans in it. Not having a direction is fine enough, but when you don't even know what you are able to do is the biggest thing to overcome.

adventure mode is easy

first, you sheathe your weapons, then you go outside and pick up two rocks, then you knap em and throw the sharp rock into the distance

then you do it again and again until you reach legendary archer, knapper, and thrower

then, you go get a shield

then you sneak up on a rabbit or something and grab it by the upper body with your right upper arm

then you block every single one of its attacks until you reach legendary shield user

then, you grab another rabbit by the right upper arm and just let it try to hit you until you reach legendary dodger and armor user and wrestler and fighter

then you go swimming in a murky pool until you reach legendary swimmer

then you go around sneaking up on animals while crawling, waiting for just the right moment, then stabbing em in the throat, then butchering their corpses after they bleed to death, and carving their bones

do this until you reach legendary <weapon>dwarf, legendary ambusher, legendary butcher, and legendary bone carver

you are now ready to kill literally anything that doesn't spew webs or have a gas/dust attack or something, except for an adamantine titan/forgotten beast/demon

No OP you'll play it for about 10 joyless minutes go 'What the fuck?' die over and over in obscurity to bullshit then go back to wishing Toady would just fucking work on Fort like he should have done from the start.
