What are some of the best instances of outside the box ways to defeat an enemy? I know metal gear has done this such as defeating The Fear by throwing him spoiled food when he searches for food so that it may deplete his stamina. I also recall a couple rpgs where you can cast healing magic on undead enemies to damage them. What are your favorite examples of this?

You can easily beat bosses in Metal Gear Solid 5 by calling item drops on their head.

That's thinking of the box, not outside of it.

Obviously The End from the same game. If you change your console's date six days or weeks, I can't remember forward he dies of old age.

Ha, I remember wanting to show my younger cousin the boss fight vs The End. I had made a save within the fight over a week before and when I had him play, that cutscene played.

The End in MGS3 has got to be the one boss that has several completely different way of defeating him.

Somehow I got the last one because I was doing a non-lethal playthrough and somehow ran out of non-lethal stuff to throw at him, so I started trying to sneak up on him and just punched the shit out of him, did so a bunch of time until he died.

Doesn't The End's stamina gauge decrease on its own anyway?

First time hearing about this

In Ultima 7 you can use spoiled diapers on any enemy in the game to put them under the fear status effect. It's enough to completely break the game.

I don't think so. Didn't he have that photosynthesis thing going on so his stamina would regenerate if he spent time in the sun?

Final Fantasy 2 (FF4 jap) to become a Paladin you don't attack your mirror image to win and change into Paladin.

Yeah, but slower than yours by quite a lot and he can regen about 2/3rds if you don't pressure him hard enough.

PSA: If you kill all the niggers in U7 you can't beat the game.

You can still beat the game after killing all killable NPCs.

Unless there was a patch in the last ~26 years nope. I did this back in like 1992. I had to start over because one of the niggers had a required quest.

On top of the blacksmith in the first town is a secret room that has a copy of every important item in the game, including the three shapes and the wand, as well as a teleporter to the final area of the game.

In Pokemon Emerald I beat the twin gym by using Skill Swap on Lunatone and then Earthquake to kill it while my Kadabra was levitating.

It's usually not good for competitive, but gimmick moves can be fun to play with.

In order of ecclesia there's an enemy that is essentially immortal and throws out a bomberman-style attack before hiding inside a wall. In order to beat him you need to absorb the glyph he uses, trapping him in the wall and killing him.

And you can also snipe The End and kill him before the boss fight.

Wall man was a neat boss and the first one I beat without taking damage which is how I discovered boss medals.

While not a way to beat him. The boss Blackmore summons a stand in the form of a giant shadow. While it attacks you can watchoose blackmore himself as he poses to telegraph the next attack.

The look of the area was great, and so was the arena for Blackmore.
