So last episode the hero's waifu went all demonic and was about to kill him. He was finally able to connect with her, and they both realized that each of them had been looking for the other since they were kids, but the government tampered with their memories. It was a major emotional development after two very depressing episodes, because both of them are extremely likable and they're a fantastic couple.
Well right as this happens, the squad leader Childhood Friend (hereafter referred to as "Dogmeat") decided to make her move. The hero was taken to the hospital and Dogmeat confined the waifu to her room, refusing to even let the two talk to each other despite the massive revelations they both just had, leaving Best Girl Waifu to die of heartbreak because she almost just killed her darling and can't even apologize. The rest of the team is in on this and forcefully keep the two apart.
Dogmeat goes a step further and demands that waifu be kicked off the team and deported. THIS HAPPENS. Waifu finally has a breakdown and begs to be able to see the hero, and after the rest of the squad relents they take her to his hospital room. Only he's already snuck out to go find her. Waifu thinks they're fucking with her to keep her away from him and finally loses it, going part demon mode and beating the shit out of all of them. The hero then finds them just in time to see her clobbering Dogmeat and he gets freaked out and calls her a monster, which breaks her heart.
At the end, waifu is being taken away by the military, and the hero is breaking down himself. He finally says fuck it and runs after his love right at the pivotal moment. ONLY TO BE TACKLED FROM BEHIND BY DOGMEAT. Who then forcefully kisses him and confesses that she loves him, which throws him off just enough that waifu's shuttle takes off and he misses his only chance. It ends with him looking up at the sky with tears in his eyes.
Dogmeat's name is Ichigo, and there is not a painful enough death in all the history of anime that wouldn't still be too good for her.

At least that's the official explanation, because they keep hinting that the mech pilots are somehow "contaminated" and have repeatedly mentioned a process called "Saurification" that the pilots are at risk of due to them all having traces of Klaxosaur blood in them. Children in the pilot program unknowingly get injected with Klax blood because it dramatically improves fighting ability.
Current theory is that Klaxosaurs are actually former humans. When a pilot loses control, we've seen that their mech starts to go berserk and transform into something called "stampede mode". The "core" of each Klaxosaur that has to be destroyed to kill it may actually be the mutated cockpit of what was once the mech. This is only a theory.

It's pretty horrible.
Rather than having categories or options or anything a desk, a desk with an empty flowerpot, a desk with 3 different kinds of flowers, and a desk with books on it all have individual menu spots so you have to scroll through like 100 slightly different objects to find the one you're looking for. Each object also has a separate version for placing it horizontally or vertically instead of having a rotate button while placing them.
The haunted house gameplay is broken. People just kind of run directly opposite whatever scares them and the amount of traps is very limited. On top of that getting accidentally chained into different traps kills people way too quickly. Dead bodies provoke the police. There are a lot of different people who can disable/destroy traps or objects.
Honestly the best strategy is to just build a maze of walls leading up to a single entrance and using your limited ghost powers to scare people and earn points. However reaching the final level(4) requires like 99 rooms and 999 objects so it's pretty difficult to keep going.
Speaking of people there's a lot of flavor text that implies each type of person is supposed to have different behaviors or be worth different amounts of points but it's clearly unfinished. The couple that is worth more points if they're separated doesn't move at all once they spawn in and everyone else has the exact same AI but are worth different score for no reason.
I didn't play long enough for Vivian to show up. I'm assuming she's at the 4th level. But late 3rd level Gilda starts showing up and it's fitting because just existing causes everything to just fall to shit. You have like 30 seconds to fry that potato before you lose the game.

She literally culled the anti-gamergate side, and then disappeared into history before they could bring her down after their first coordinated dox attempt failed.
