DoD1 was not as bad as I expected it to be, even less so when I realized I didn't have to grind all weapons to level 4 for ending E. At the same time, it is incredibly clunky, frustrating at times, and finding some of the weapons either requires stars to align perfectly, or looking up on the internet. Seriously, some of the aerial mission time limits are retardedly tiny. Or how about that one weapon that appears if you spend 20 minutes in one of the missions? And this weapon conflicts with another one, which you get if you speedrun that same mission? At least you can replay them. Also, dragon controls are really good and weighty, but the fights against aerial bosses are infuriating due to shoddy camera controls.
Ending E took me a self-made excel cheat sheet to beat, where I took the final sequence of button presses and split it into logical chunks with repeating patterns, and then just followed the cheat sheet instead of on-screen cues.

Nier Automata was fantastic and tied up everything very neatly. There isn't much discussion around it because it's a single player game and it already happened when the game came out. Perhaps when there is DLC, but it's unlikely they'll create any monumental expansions considering the game cleans itself up neatly.

If the team had been committed to it yes, I like Papa Nier but in isolation changing the protagonist makes no sense. The biggest one being that a full grown adult can't use a two handed sword until the time skip, when in the other version it was because he went from trap fuckboi to at least teenage twink. Overall I like Papa Nier more as a character, but I wish the team had put more gumption into actually adopting the gameplay and story around him being an adult. In the end though, Yoko Taro and crew love shota Nier way too much to have bothered with caveman dad which they were almost forced at fininancial gunpoint to add to the game. At least Yoko acknowledges that ending C is papa Nier's proper ending and that Ending D is shota's proper ending.
Both versions should have seen a US release, just like how the Japanese got both Nier's though

I played through it, got all of the endings. And while the game is good, and niche - I simply do not understand why this game is hyped to the extent that it is. The combat's basic, and most of the time boring because of poor enemy design. The world itself is shallow and the game would've worked better if it was mission structured rather than open world. And while the narrative of the quests are enjoyable, the design for them comes down to basic MMO fetch quests. Kill ten boars and all that.
9S is the best character, and his ending is better than the 'true ending'.

I get that androids made Project YoRHa since humans are extinct, if I read it right, yorha droids have machine cores while non-yorha droids do not. It seems logical to think that the virus only affects those with machine cores. What confuses me is the tower. They say it's used by the droids to shoot stuff up to the moon, but it's full of machines and has "alien" language. Red girls must be machines then. How did the droids gain access to this?
