Dude's right. Game is pretty p2w, it's fun, but it's p2w. That said I've never spent any money on this game and just trade decent mods and prime parts to people who do spend money on the game. Surprisingly easy to do.

The only way to make a co-op game p2w is to gate content by making you pay for something needed to complete said content, be it a key to access it or better equipment that is necessary to finish it.

Everything in warframe can be finished with relative ease using a non-prime mag and a mk1 - braton so no, the game is not pay2win, at most is pay2dress up

Sorry but I'l have to dispute that. p2w used to mean content that gave you a unfair advantage that couldn't be achieved without paying. While it is true that you can buy a bunch of platinum and use that on the player market to buy a bunch of prime stuff to get you going from the start, none of that content is locked from free play. Clearly shelling some money has to give you some benefit, otherwise it's not a business model. But paying to save a week's worth of grind is hardly p2w.

Star Wars Battlefront and Destiny 2, on a similar note, are p2w because the amount of time you'd need to unlock the suposedly 'free' content is ludicrous, and unlocking everything without money is prohibitive even.

Also, some youtube video (fuck me if I can remember it) came to the conclusion that it's pretty much impossible to collect all of the seasonal loot in destiny 2. Unless you spend thousands of dollars you simply can't have it all. I agree that 72h is too much, but at the very least it's something I can manage, thus not prohibitive. You can trade in warframe. ANYONE can get sell-able shit (hell farm syndicate rep and sell the syndicate weapons, sell derelict mods, ducat fodder even) and trade your fucking way up. Other than excal prime, you can get fucking EVERYTHING this way. Any frame? Any weapon? Cosmetics? rush builds?

Last but not least, i'd say for a 'total beginner' it would still be EXTREMELY difficult to 'buy power' directly in warframe and hop in and top the charts on a trial. There is a LOT of minmaxing and tweaking and meta-awareness needed to be effective. Not to mention semi obligatory grinding in leveling up items before you can forma them; afaik, you can't buy that. You could buy plat and trade that for sculptures and then buy all the mods you want and max everything, but you're not going to be able to slap them on your MR 0 whatever weapon and frame and use them all until you take those things through quite a few rounds and to do that you need to know what the fuck you're doing to some extent with either THOSE items, or have some other maxed shit to carry those, unless you're just going to leech off of pubs like a shitter repeatedly which would STILL be horrifically inefficient in leveling shit compared to actually killing stuff and doing missions efficiently.

Just that you can't "win" by paying. Even if it's pay2notgrind, it's wrong because even if you shell out cash for prime access, then buy plat to trade for mods, buy pre-built forma, and an affinity booster, you're still going to grind the frame, grind for endo to level up those mods, grind each time you forma something (most frames require at least three forma, most weapons need at least two, so at the bare minimum grinding out a full loadout means nine grind cycles. And that's assuming you're using weapons that don't have gimmick mods or have a riven for that weapon which requires kuva grinding), and grind for credits to trade for that stuff as well as for ranking up mods. Also MR gates. Meaning even if you go full timmy at MR2 you can't use any of it on good weapons until you grind up the various MR fodder. And the powergrinding spots are way ahead on the star-chart but you can get a taxi there so that isn't too much of an issue.

I'm of the opinion that warframe is technically "pay to win" if we consider winning reaching the ultimate destination of warframe's journey: getting frames, weapons, etc. the fact that the prime pay ceiling is so high and the farming for some prime items can be so excruciating really brings this point home. However, it doesn't matter in the slightest because warframe's pvp is basically non existent. I simply don't care that other players have an advantage over me because it can't really hinder me in any way. Pay to win only really has its negative connotations for me when the "win" condition requires that I lose. Is there some kind of special trick to getting the mining resources? I mean I did a solid hour of solo fishing/mining. Most of it running around looking for mining nodes, and the end of it was fishing and I got like 200 scales/oil worth of fish when converted + various mats, and like 60 coprite, 40 pyrol, 30 fer, 20 aurox and like 10-20 of various gems (only devar, vertios, azurite)

And that's not even enough to build all of the components for my 'first' zaw. I understand that I have the noob tier mining cutter, and I'm working towards next faction level so I can get the better ones, but is this basically all there is to it? Is there any special strategy? It seems like there are sometimes clusters of mining nodes in caves but the most I've ever seen in one 'general area' is like 4-5, otherwise it's a lot of running around waiting for the thing to start beeping. Do the better cutters give me MORE minerals per node than the starter one? Or just decrease the sway and increase radar range? Are there any good mining 'spots'? other than just searching random rocks and caves? Is there any way to get these mining 'resources' without actually mining? like some special types of missions?

I just unlocked the fetal alcohol syndrome kid and i know that their builds work differently than tenno. Are there guides on how to build them? i don't want to waste time and resources in a game that basically punishes you for experimenting.

It's not built like Loki or Ivara but more of a way to get yourself or your teammate out of a situation that's going up shit's creek. You only lose judgment points when you successfully kill Kela de Thaym, and you only lose 12 points despite needing 25 to access her node.

So what you can do is clear the mandatory first node (free to enter, rewards 10 points), then complete the second node (needs 10 points to enter, rewards 50). After that you can alternate between killing Kela and running the second node repeatedly.

For doing that stuff, I just play Valkyr. But playing Valkyr is pretty much my answer to everything in this game.

If you have arcane helmets (the alt helmets that give a stat trade) a few of them like Rhino Vanguard can fetch a crazy price. Most are junk though.

As for relics just write a list of all the parts you have or could open, then do some searches for '[itemname] price' to see what you could get for them. It basically is, it works well in this specific interaction with Mesa but most of the time I find it to be very irritating to use because of its horrific fire rate outside of headshots and the buff it gives. Currently it hasn't been patched to be like Knell which refreshes its buff every time you get a headshot during the buff's duration, so you inevitably go back down to slow, slooooooooooooooow firerate. Putting Gunslinger on it and/or using it with Harrow can fix that, but Harrow's fire rate+reload speed+crit chance buffs can fix most rough guns.

Lex Prime still scales fine through most of the game and has a fantastic noise, but because it's crit-based and not status-based, if you're not running a 4x Corrosive Projection squad you're going to have issues vs Lv. 100 Bombards/Heavy Gunners since you can't strip armor fast enough. The reload speed is old-style, which means it's too long for a secondary, but it's tolerable once you get used to it. Depending on your MR, there's other secondaries you can use as a weapons platform that would serve you just as well.

It just strips too slowly. It has relatively slow fire rate, a small magazine, a long reload time, and all of these things together mean that it just won't strip armor with Corrosive procs at the speed you want to make your damage matter vs higher-level heavy units, let alone quite a lot of them. Of course, this goes entirely out the window with damage amps Rhino's Roar, Octavia's Amp, any natural armor-stripping like Seeking Shuriken, high-power Frost Avalanches, etc, but those can scale up other weapons as well. I still frequently reach for Lex Prime as it has a better feel and sound than many other secondaries in the game, but it does have its tradeoffs.
