c2a90f No.14031725

Is it good? Did the creators do any stupid shit I should be aware of?

11e961 No.14031739

Its good provided you get friends to play with and you ignore all their DLC.

c2a90f No.14031890

>>14031739

How viable is it for table top RPG with random /tg/ group?

11e961 No.14032991

>>14031890

Pretty viable. Ive seen people play all kinds of TTRPGs on TTS.

0c7b0f No.14033360

If you don't actually play boardgames forget it.

You will be stuck playing the most casual of games and you probably don't even know how to find the proper manuals for more serious games.

Good boardgames are not for plebs.

Either this or find a friend who is really into boardgames.

What a faggot thing to post.

I've played plenty of board games, I'm absolutely sure I've played close to every game you'd call a "good board game", and own quite a few of them. They're not exactly something that are hard to get into, they're not some ethereal form of entertainment only the enlightened can partake in. There's a reason why more and more normalfags and casuals are getting into these things in the past few years.

They're fucking board games, get over yourself. I'm sure anyone who posts here can pick up something like Carcassonne or Catan and learn the rules and start a game in 10 minutes or less. Even more complicated games like Gloomhaven or Twilight Struggle have manuals you can easily follow.

You know what it is fucking good for? Magic.

It's actually my favorite way to play the game online because the system works so well, building a deck is easy with online tools, you can play Mormir Vig, and There are plenty of mods that make playing the game easier(There's a mod out there that encodes counters onto cards for example).

The only real problem is that the player base is really casual and many of them don't actually play any formats, but I've had a few CHOICE commander games none the less.

9b4745 No.14033451

>>14031890

It's honestly the best way to play an RPG online, provided your DM spends some time to learn how everything works and to set up the game beforehand. That last part goes for every method of playing online though - the group will have the best time playing whatever the DM is comfortable using. But otherwise, everything needed to run an RPG is easily importanted within seconds.

It's also the best way to play 40k. I lament that the only friend who likes to play the game is absolute shit at it, because I had a lot of fun making kill team maps and playing with him.

I think >>14033360 is referring more to the fact that his friends just fuck around with games like Uno and shit.

In which case: find a fucking good playgroup anon and stop being such a defeatist faggot.

I bought it ages ago, and used to play it sometime ago. But as the other anons say, you need friends to truly play it, don't know about you but I don't have any friends to play this with. You can use a dlc unlocker to play the dlc for free. Never played any of them, but they look well made compared to most of the shit you find on the workshop.

So, how does this work for custom games? If I enter a lobby for some DnD module some joe made does it download what I need P2P Warcraft 3 style or do I need the files already to even see the lobby?

Does this support simple games vs AI?

>If you don't actually play boardgames forget it.

Also this. The public servers and chat is full of redditors playing the latest meme game. The superior option will always be to play the games in person, but if you really want to use TTS, I will say that it is a perfectly serviceable program. It does what it's supposed to do and works for a wide variety of games, though it can feel a little clunky and slow at times.

What you need is a reliable, civilized group who actually wants to play a game. Getting some random anons into a room and maybe two of them will have mics, and most will want to shitpost and fuck around, throwing things across the table, spawning random bits of stuff, and drawing dicks all over the table. If you can get past that phase and actually set up a game, it's not that bad.

>twillight stuggle

>complicated

Try getting into eclipse or twillight imperium after only 1 reading of the manual.

Parties tend to play the games wrong and more often than not there are real errors in the manual that can only be cleared after finding specific posts by the game creators online.

It's not about being enlightened. It's about having the patience to learn. Something a lot of people lack.

I play it a bunch with friends.

We do weekly tabletop games.

There's also heaps of MtG, Yugioh and other great board and card games on there. Totally worth it. Except when the devs update something like the network and screw it.

Mite be cool for some boardgames. I could see doing a game night or just straight up asking /tg/ if they wanna play something. It's feels like forever since we did something as boards.
