I'm play trio of towns now that the dlc has been released for it. It's surprisingly decent, when compared to the last couple of games on the 3ds, they've toned down a lot of the shit I hated about the previous ones, although I am playing on seedling mode because of how bad the fucking grind was last time, so that might help a bit. Still have the tutorial period being a lot shorter, being able to skip more shit is a god send. Kind of disappointed about the waifu selection though compared to SoS, but they're growing on me.

In terms of the best, I think animal parade is the closest in terms of features, it's too bad about the technical issues. MM is pretty close for me, but it does suffer a little bit from being ploddingly slow at times, but I think in terms of gameplay I think it's the best. 64 and btn are honorable mentions and only really fall behind because the newer series have added a bit more meat, but none have been able to capture that original feel of the older series.

I liked Harvest Moon DS and it's dungeon, how you can buy machines and stuff and how much of a fucking asshole you can be. I think the very first thing you can do in the game is let your dog kill the mayor, you could also spike the yearly soup event with poisonous mushrooms, killing yourself and the rest of the village.
