Back before Net Neutrality, I remember that we had so many ISPs. All these ISPs are gone only leaving Comcast, my first ISP was Super Telecom but I think they're defunct now. Comcast lobbies to keep competitors out. Also, we should have faster internet and no datacaps, Japs have much faster internet than us. If Americans weren't such sheep this country would boycott Comcast and go without internet until they cave in.

Is it just me or does this sound kinda reasonable? They keep talking about paid prioritization. As in, if you pay extra your web traffic gets priority. So as it stands now, I would assume, all traffic gets the same priority, so services like the kinds listed here aren't possible. Seems to me like in a real world scenario when someone uses one of these priority services, all other web traffic would take a slight hit, but with speeds nowadays exceeding 100mbps, does that really matter? I haven't had to wait for youtube video to load in years.

Though, I do live in one of the areas that is near where Amazon will be testing their drones, so we'll be seeing wireless internet speeds getting up to 5G over here.

You'd think that, but it mostly comes down to whatever the city needs and demand in the area. I hear places like New York and San Francisco get speeds of up to 1Gbps because…that's what they need and they have such a large population to justify it. Some places out East of where I live get, I think, 5 Mbps because there isn't much demand out there (It's mostly farmland). It's unfair, but I can also see why.

There is demand, if not more so for rural areas to have higher speed than what most of them have right now. Some rural areas I know don't have good options for broadband, it's either dial up, mobile or satellite. All those options are either too slow, too expensive, or too erratic.

Enough demand to tear up the current phonelines, upgrade and put in new ones, and and bring them up to code (Because it's up to the state what regulations are, it's not a nationwide thing)? If someone really wanted faster internet, they they'd pay for it (Regardless of the price), even with net neutrality in place. A lot of this stuff is the way it is because of political decisions from decades ago. And, things have become such a mess that to "improve" things, they'd have to go through a county-wide infrastructure change. This is also the reason why there's a big push towards wireless internet.
And, yeah, it needs to happen, and it isn't going to be cheap. However, you're also trusting people in charge of these projects to actually hire companies who know what they're doing instead of just going for the lowest bid. A lot of things are so screwed up because of the fact that people want to take the easy route and trust everything to the local/county/state/national government, and then complain about how they're getting screwed over by one of various things.

Believe me I know the pothole perils in that. I've seen and worked in some construction projects and it's a minor miracle sometimes that some structures are still standing.

From some areas, yes. Lower population = less paying customers but then you get to a situation where the digital divide can widen further between rural and urban.
