Also Unity portrays the Revolution in a simply cartoonish manner. AssCreed never had good gameplay. Never. Platforming and general movement is nearly completely automated, combat transcends simplistic and enters the realm of mechanics a lobotomized paraplegic could master in under five minutes, the narratives are always fucking trash (the latest installments going from mere leftist propaganda to Steven Universe tier idiocy) and the open world is pointless because there is fuckall to do in it. But anon, merit didn't enter the equation afterwards either – the world is stuffed with incompetent politicians and higher positions are more often than not gained through nepotism. Even in its idealistic core, democracy is set up as a popularity contest, not a contest of governorship. Abolishing nobility simply removed the few remaining checks on the power of the rich and provided room for mass politics. Almost all of societal problems we face today can be traced back to the French revolution.

I honestly prefer the Kenway storyline to Ezio's. I wish that we got a game about Haytham instead of Shay (though I like his character) to fill in the gap between Edward and Connor. Assassin's Creed III also could have easily been the best AssCreed and even a good game period if there were just a few adjustments.

The settings and some characters and their stories are probably the best aspect of the series. The gameplay gets boring and too easy. I was burned off by it to even play AC4 even though people say it was good. I didn't even enjoy the pirating and ship play in the game, but did like simply sailing and listening to your crew sing shanties. I just saw my brother play the game and did kinda like some of the stories. Those deep moments with the characters did have an impact, I was even surprised at how poignant the ending was, even touched me a bit.
