Every day I wonder how someone this incompetent can have a job. The hard part about DKCR was not succumbing to boredom. The levels would constantly interrupt your flow by making you stop and do stupid shit like hitting a switch or blowing at flowers. It got me so frustrated that my concentration would drop, so I would start making mistakes, so I would actually die, so I would have to do the stupid gimmicks over and over again. This sort of shit is why I wish console games had mods, you could make the game better simply by just removing stuff from it.

DKC Returns is in the sweet spot really. Not too easy that you breeze through, not too hard that you want to quit that shit every level. Have 100%ed both games twice and would contest that the "difficulty" (I.e exactly in line with the other DK Country games) is a plus point.
There are some exceptions (Crowded Cavern, Muncher Marathon, Furious Fire, Irate Eight, Kong Temples) but even they are only frustrating if you want to 100% the games. I can't imagine anyone struggling if they aren't going for all the puzzle pieces and kong letters.
They even put in a bunch of help features like the kong guide, new mode, and powerups across the games for people who are struggling. How is it too hard?

If you got stuck at a level with no alternative route on the world map to continue past it, you could use Super Kong to beat it and come back later.

Perhaps my perspective of journalism is optimistic given I knew some truly dedicated journalists when I was in school, but the new brand of "journalists" who produce most of what you'd read in a newspaper are media/communications tapeworms rather than reporters.
