I'm going to try to make this sound as un-melodramatic as possible, but how do I go from being 100% /v/irgin to 100% /toy/soldier? Besides Phantom Pain there are pretty much zero upcoming video games that interest me, and I'm just about ready to quit vidya altogether. It just looks like a heaping pile of garbage to me.
What do I need to know before I start slippery sloping, or is it really as simple as just lurking amiami everyday?

I guess once you've made your first toy purchases it's going to be easier to "transition". If you enjoy the figures you buy, you're going to start devoting more and more of your expenses to toys rather than to vidya.
Some things to keep in mind are 1) make sure you have enough disposable income to get into and sustain the hobby and 2) avoid buying toys just because people hype them up. Try to focus on buying toys that have meaning to you or are based on media you care about. Sometimes people who don't set limits to the kinds of toys they buy later on realize they've spent a ton on "garbage".
The first year of actual collecting tends to be the most expensive because of that temptation to keep buying shit and also because you try out different toy lines to get a feel on what you like, so best of luck to you and your wallet.
