Also, does anyone know if Mr. Color is lacquer or acrylic? The layman's guide says it's Acrylic but the store page says Lacquer.

I recommend you use Tamiya or Vallejo paints, Mr color is really hard to use without an airbrush

Alright well I realise this thread is dead as fuck but thought I'd ask anyway; what are some beginners tips for painting gunpla?

I've managed to put them together alright but the idea of mixing/getting paint colours right seems overwhelming. Not to mention technique so it doesn't look like ass without investing in an airbrush.

The important thing all beginners avoid is sanding, when it's extremely important for painting, especially hand painting.

Sand, prime, paint. The sanding allows primer, and by proxy, paint to stick better. You also have to thin it well, or it'll look like chunky ass when brushed.
