We've gotten started at my shop with Infinity, I play PanO and Ariadna, specifically USARF.
Ariadna is the most hype faction in my opinion, there is just so much going on with it that I really think that they are the most interesting. On top of that, they are literally the underdogs of the game's universe, since they are at the bottom of basically every ladder.
I've been doing really good so far with USARF, Grunts inflitrating into the deployment zone with Heavy Flamethrowers really messes people up in the early game, plus, they only cost 11 points a pop.
I just ordered some Desperadoes, cannot wait to bust some heads with them.
The only army I've had serious trouble playing against is Combined Army, and I'm not sure why.
Any tips?
Pic is the new Unknown Ranger model for USARF, I'm super excited for it.

See, I do have the Devil Dog, but I'm starting to call him the Distraction Dog since all he manages to do is draw fire so my other stuff can move up.
Desperadoes or a 3rd the cost, get basically the same gear, and move almost twice as fast.
The only advantage the Devil Dog has is Super Jump, which I just cannot force myself to justify.
I've noticed that Deploying Second, Going First is the best for me, however.

My best recommendation is to look online in the Infinity forums for some lists to help inspire your own, and then just start building up.

Not at all? All of the factions are more or less pretty balanced; sometimes the ayys might get some unique skills, but I usually don't hear any complaints. The only ones who might are those rare autists that get triggered by anything non-human, but that's not necessarily an issue exclusive to Infinity.
That OCF box is pretty sweet though, I'll probably pick it up once I have some money saved up. I have no idea what color scheme to do, though; black and red is really lame.

I want to like Infinity but as a fedora Haqqislam just bugs me. I'm not against the idea of an Islamic faction but the idea of a humanistic and "New" or reform Islam is entirely contrary to basic Islamic values and just makes no sense. IMO it's as in bad taste as calling one of the civilizations the "New Humanist Nazi State."

They were the 1st to go into space to the planet Adriana get disconnected from Earth said planet had hostile dog like aliens and being humans they did the usual and fucked said dogs to create werewolfs/hybrids the hybrids are wulfers like in the OPs image.
A nice gimmick they have is they cant get hacked due to them still using old ass equipment the reason they manage to stay relevant is the metal Adriana has all the people on Adriana might hate each other but if PanO or some chucklefucks decide to invade then they will team up and fuck some shit also they are pretty close to the Nomads

Until the RPG comes out we don't know if all Dog-warriors are male. Once that does and we get some more background info we can make that final determination.
In game Dog-faces come in several forms. Some start the game already transformed as they are better trained or are just able to control it better. Like Devil Dogs or Cameronians.
That unit pictured,Dog-warriors, start out in human form but upon taking wound(unless its viral ammo) transform into full werewolf. This makes them great for their role as shock troops. You actually want to toss them into the line of fire. Just not too heavy of fire.
>>258506
That is not her brother. The woman, Margot met that dogface during a mission and instead of killing him decided to recruit him. They have been confirmed by the Devs to be in a relationship however. Sergeant Duroc(That big blue bastard) is said to be the only Dogface in an actual committed relationship, most Dogfaces just have casual hookups apparently. In human form he is apparently very good looking. Again, the devs own words.

Not yet but supposedly that is the goal with one of the upcoming sectorals.
In general Yu Jing is a pretty solid all around faction. A large selection of HI units along with some strong infiltrator units to pick from too. They also have a pretty generous selection of units with Chain of Command. Which is actually a pretty rare skill in other armies. Not too many obvious weaknesses save that maybe that they bank just a little too much on above average CC skills.

Honestly? No idea at all.
CB is notorious for its slow release schedule and for pushing back release dates.
The sectoral in question "The Invincible Army" is supposedly going to based entirely around HI. That may change. CB has often dropped hints and tidbits about things in development that get changed. They used to talk about a Yu Jing TAG called the Blue Wolf that was supposidly the rival unit of the PanO Jotum based off a piece of fluff they had written. It was allegedly going to have a Heavy magnetic cannon and be impetuous. Apparently in testing that was found to be way too strong and that unit idea was scrapped for the time being. It took them years before they got around to telling the community about that.
Given that the basic Yu Jing infantry, the Zhanshi, need a sectoral, I imagine that they will probably go in the Invincible Army as their LI. HI will probably still form the nucleus.

This made me think of something, though: Does anyone ever use core link teams made of HIs? It seems like every sectorial has an HI core option (MB, Janissaries, MOs, etc.), but what's the point when fielding a full core link team of 35 - 40 point average troops takes up half your army?

Making an 'army book' for Nomads, possibly with Sectorial minibooks, as a proof of concept.
I think the worst aspect of Infinity isn't anything to do with the game, it's the level of accessibility getting in. There is so little fluff available or consolidated anywhere other than the core book that you can never decide whether or not something's "cool" beyond visual (and like it or not, at first glance a lot of Infinity models look similar across different armies). Trying to figure out who you like or how they play involves digging into different communities rather than seeing something awesome and saying "I wanna try that."
First thing's first (aside from fluffing it up) is putting the stats about a unit into a format that's quicker to get the necessary information out of. Their current layout's a mess if you're not already 100% familiar with where you need to look, so I'm taking a bash at redesigning (taking obvious cues from the current market leaders; if there's on thing they get right now, it's the book layouts) such as organising things better (by Troop Type, subdivided by Troop Classification) and making information more readily available at a glance.
Divided into 3 sections:
1. Profile. The stats of the unit. I want to know on paper with nothing else, what's it gonna cost me at a minimum compared to its basic stats? Can it even be a lieutenant.
2. Quick list of permanent and optional special skills, equipment, BS weapons and CC weapons. What, in the realm of possibility, can I possibly use this unit for?
3. Complete list of loadouts, splitting everything into its necessary subcategories including cost above base.
Any thoughts, criticism, suggestions, etc. are welcome.

Also, if you think of what you would want to see, let me know.
Since their rules are free online, I'm including a section for rules, equipment and weapons pertaining specifically to the army. This isn't like 40k where the rules are money so they don't put them in the army books, and since CB are big on digital distribution you aren't exactly concerned about print costs. I think it'd be better for players, if they have the option, to simply use one book each with both having all the relevant info they would need for their games. It doesn't benefit a PanO player to have Morat in their book, but it would benefit them to have Kinematika. That sort of thing.
So yeah, what would you want in Infinity Army Books?

This is a good initiative. The official unit profile pdfs are a complete mess visually, as some of them are readable just fine while others are muddy as fuck.
One thing that I quite like from your preview is that you have a base cost of the basic profile and then you've separated the special loadout costs. Probably not something that most will be interested in, but I quite like the ability to see how the weapons and/or additional skills are costed.

Thanks, man. Yeah some of the units in the .pdf are a complete joke, it needs updating. No excuse for it to be that way. Got ahold of the physical editions of N3 and Human Sphere so I can flesh out this army book.
Glad you like the point split into unit + loadout. One of the harder things about list building is keeping all those different numbers in your head. I wondered what made it so easy in something like 40k and the answer was that they broke it down into chunks. Instead of thinking in terms of fiddly little numerical differences of complete units, you just populate your list with the basics and then use the remaining points to spend on their gear. Makes much more sense since you're working with wiggle room, not trying to edit a blank canvas.
The thing that started it off was myself and a couple of friends all got into it at the same time and all hit the same stumbling block: "I wanna play, but where the fuck do I even begin?" Hopefully it addresses it by giving context to your dudes with a smaller cost than an entire rulebook and focusing only on the special skills, equipment, BS Weapons and CC Weapons your army uses, nothing else. The design ethos for the redesign is "At a glance". I need all the relevant info where I can see it as quickly as possible. If I 'must' pick a lieutenant while army building, then that info needs to be easily seen. If I need a sniper, I need to see if that weapon's even in the list without having to sift through everything else. I just want to look in a list with no repetition that says "Sniper Rifle". I can worry about the other stuff after, but that initial "He can take one" is what you want when list-making.
Long term goal is once these initial Generic Nomad book + Sectorial minibooks are done, contact Corvus Belli with them as proof of concept and see if they'll pay me to fix their shit.

Aye. GWs products have been circulating for decades to the point that you have fathers introducing it to their sons. Infinity doesn't have that yet. Also a trade-off to the fluff being paid only with the rules being free is that people can buy the minis and play the game without ever really learning anything about their factions and units, they have no context. I prefer this method, but you do lose something to it, which is that in 40k the fluff comes with the rules and you have to buy the rules to play. Everyone (playing) has the fluff. Most people playing Infinity don't. You can't make in-jokes and context based humour without that, unfortunately. Give it time, Infinity's on the up and up, it's a great game and it'll eventually get corrupted by normalfag incursions like everything else you hold dear.

No, wait a minute, what if you're right? What if that's the basis of their third sectorial? A traditional cyberpunk conspiracy shadow government/cabal with Jewish mysticism undertones in the style of SEELE and NERV?
Steel Phalanx acts as a bulwark against the CA.
The Vedic sect probably handles all of Aleph's "IT" needs.
This theoretical third sectorial would be the ones really pulling PanO's and YJ's puppetstrings. Theoretically speaking, whatever expansion it releases in would also probably coincide with the Nomads' rumored secret society.

Well, the NatSocs were actually humanists though.
As for mudslime reformation, it nearly did happen when they started collecting the old Greek manuscripts and such from their occupied territories. Some of the more intelligent scholars started subtly pushing for science and slight secularisation, but of course, then you got massacres and burning libraries and that's where Islam is still at today. at this point though, the problem is most likely only solved by glassing most of the middle east and gassing any of the kebabs in Europe. Depends on the faction, but the average 300 pt list sees about 12 - 15 troopers. A low-tech faction like Ariadna and Haqqislam with loads of premium light infantry will see more, and factions like Yu Jing and Aleph that rely on pricy heavies will see less, but this is certainly not always the case. Infinity is one of the more cheaper wargames on the market; you could totally get by for a while with just the seven figures you would get out of the starter sets.

Depends on faction, point limit and the type of army you want to run.
Point limit's simple enough. Standard games are considered 200-300 points.
Some factions are more geared towards elite units with better gear which will munch points readily (30-40 points base).
Heavy Infantry and Tactical Armoured Gear will take anywhere between a third and half of your points before you even know it, if you aren't careful with them.
If you're gonna go into it with friends, I'd highly recommend splitting either Operation: Icestorm or Red Veil depending on your choice of factions. Icestorm contains Nomads and PanOceania, Red Veil contains Yu Jing and Haqqislam. Both contain papercraft scenery & playmat so it's one less thing to worry about. You get 7 units each, which is enough to get you running 150-200 point games if you really buff everyone up. It's the best way to get in and start playing and they make great foundation pieces moving forward.
I'd recommend giving the 1d4 page a look over - https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Infinity_(wargame)#Factions

1x Mobile Brigada
1x Reverend Healer

1x Miyamoto Mushashi

Intruders are Corregidor's (and Nomads' as a whole) major workhorse. Good weapons, good statline, good skills and equipment. To get the most out of them, pair them with Jaguars for a cheap MSV + smoke combo. But if you're using a MB pain train, you likely won't have the points or SWC to really make use of them. Speaking of which, you can forget about the Geckos, even one of them is pushing it too much.
The MB has both a Hacker and a Deflector profile, bring the both of them and use the Hacker to set up Fairy Dust to protect your link from enemy hackers, who can and will make your life miserable.
Tomcats are good infiltrating specialists, you can take a Doctor to support the MBs and make them last longer.
Hellcats are some of the best Combat Jumpers in the game, send a Boarding Shotgun to the back of the opponent's line to bully their cheerleaders.
All of the remotes are really good; the Tsyklon and Lunokhod are Nomad proprietary brand and top of the line, but don't overlook the generic ones.
Not sure if you'd need skirmishers (Bandits, Morans) but they're there, too. Bandits are probably more useful, being as toolboxy as they are.
With 100 points to spare, you'll have to be really picky about what goes in, though.

But it's nice to get an HD+ option that doesn't cost out the ass for a rambo piece with a shitty gun. A slightly worse Interventor is still really damn good. Plus, she's at least ten times cuter.
It's enough that it's seriously starting to make me doubt ever picking up Nomads. I only ever bothered playing them for Interventors and remotes, and outside those I just don't feel happy with them all too much. I already bought some stuff for them, though; I wonder if it's alright to cut my loses and shift focus to something else.
But the only other thing that interests me is Ariadna, and it wouldn't be cool to use two cheese armies. Quite the conundrum.

Quick question for everyone: How would you improve Infinity? I think it's probably the best skirmish system I've played, but nothing's ever perfect. What would you do and why to make Infinity a better game? Could be fluff changes or additions, mechanical change, marketing and business change, etc.
One of mine: Plastic kits of max-AVA units. I detest having to buy and work with metals even if they weight is nice in small numbers, and buying single units just for a weapon almost always feels like you're getting ripped off a little. I'd love to see them sprue up units to the maximum AVA you could run them in either their vanilla or sectorial (AVA Total aside) and include every loadout they could have in there. There's no such thing as an Infinity bits box, there's no real conversion scene beyond posing. Sadly plastics open up a whole new can of worms, but still.
>>316458
What Nomad units do you have? I'm playing Vanilla/Corregidor at the minute and I'm pretty happy with them, but I know I'm playing them 'wrong' (I rarely take hackers aside for as a defensive measure, top-heavy lists, etc.).
I should probably play something more like USAriadna or PanO since it suits my style of 'don't necessarily think about shit, just move to the objectives and kill people' better, but it's doing well so far.

What do you think would make Infinity more popular?
I think the best thing Infinity has going for it is its rules, specifically the ARO system. Small demo games in FLGS are absolutely key. It's also on the back foot in terms of fluff/setting selling the game because you never need to buy a rulebook. Double edged sword of the rules being free is that all the context is behind a paywall that has less incentive to purchase compared to something like 40k, where half of any rulebook is entirely fluff, art, stories, etc.
Personally I think they need to start releasing some army books and hiring a lot of artists to start competing with places like GW in terms of selling the idea of the game, but that's just me. I'm the anon from above that's got the side project of making an army book for Nomads, but fuck me if I'm not overworked as it is.

I can see their point. It's cheaper overall to field an Infinity army, but unit per unit it can get expensive. For the same price you can get a whole squad of 40k dudes with a lot of extra options on the sprue. I do prefer working with smaller numbers though, fuck painting entire armies.
I was wondering about how feasible it is to port 40k armies to Infinity as just a fun little experiment. Might be easier now they're making all the datasheets free (and assigning everything a points value for matched play).

But Infinity already has a video game, it's called X-COM
I'm not actually sure what they could do for an Infinity vidya. It's suppose to me more clandestine ops rather than out-and-out warfare like others. Maybe tactical squad based FPS? Cover based third person? Splinter Cell: Spektr edition?

Corregidor actually isn't all that hacky, which is really odd considering it has one of the best repeater nets in the game what with the Morans and premium remotes. Vanilla, however, can and should be super hacky, since you're now throwing Interventors and Custodiers into the mix.

My regular FLGS used to sell it (it's how I found out about it in the first place) but by the time I picked it up, they stopped selling it due to lack of interest. Something else to keep in mind would be that there would be virtually no hackers (or to an extent BTS unless units had energy shielding of some type), but they will have psykers that Infinity units wouldn't be able to respond to whatsoever.
Also; no tanks. But (what were) monstrous creatures and walkers would all be TAG tier so that's fine. I've seen people refer to Geckos as akin to Terminators; they're not-quite-TAGs but get armour that suits the role. Termies getting Tactical Dreadnought Armour seems like a fair comparison.

Yes. A Vyper is probably pushing it as the biggest you could get something, even then that'd be huge in Infinity scales. Have to make a new S9 silhouette profile or something.
With that in mind if people do want to spec tanks it could be a laugh in more urban settings with streets they could manoeuvre through. CC would be through the floor, but 4-4 MOV, average BS, but outrageous loadouts, ARM (& possibly BTS) could make it interesting. They'd have to be so high-value in terms of points though, I'm talking like 150 C for an average tank.

I thought of what would have been a decent strat if it worked, sadly it doesn't because of when the specific skill happens.
Thought of using Joan as the Lt and holding Kirpal Singh in AD because he has Chain of Command. Push Joan as much as possible safe in the knowledge that if your Lt goes down you can immediately drop Kirpal. The issue is that Chain of Command explicitly states you have to activate it when your Lt enters a null or isolated state and they have to already be on the table to do it, which is a shame - http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Chain_of_Command
AD Lt's could be used as above if you predict your normal Lt will be dead this active turn so you drop them down somewhere in expectation that you can use it, but that's not as cool as dropping them in when your Lt dies to take over. Other than that though it's daft; if you have no Lt on the table at the start of your turn, even if they're in reserve, you immediately start the game in LoL. Might be half useful in armies with almost all irregular and impetuous troops since it makes no difference to them?
Remember my friends and I played Loss of Lieutenant wrong for ages; we had them immediately enter it and declared new Lt at the start of a turn rather than you entering LoL at the beginning of your next tactical phase during the order count and it ending when you declare a new Lt at the end of the turn.

None of that terrain makes any sense, why do you need so many random walkways? Get some cool scale buildings, make the matrix lobby and fight in it. dont just plop down a ton of walkways and be "done".
This is one of those really annoying trends of sci-fi wargames in general that require a large ammount of terrain. Containers work fine if it's insie a shipping yard. pillars and machinery are cool, ware houses are cool, streets are cool. but random walkways? no
A bunch of squares in a regualr pattern is what people make. it is what people like and it is where people store things. Things that might be important to you and your team.
A office is a great place. almost no actual cover only weak concealment. Server halls, powerplants, electrical stations. There are tons of real life cool places. random walkways are not cool.

I'll probably be building terrain from scratch soon, funnily enough the Matrix lobby is something I've sketched out for ideas. I wanted to see if there were existing modular interior sets for office-style buildings but they're all grossly expensive and a bit too chunky spaceship sci-fi for my liking. Gonna design it and a friend of mine can model it up so hopefully we can get some cool shit going.

Infinity doesn't really work like that, there are no real auto-win lists. Even the worst lists can beat the best if the guy using it has skill. The worst of Ariadna comes from vanilla, where you have access to their entire arsenal of ghillie suits; I'm not sure how bad their Sectorial are in comparison, with the exception of MRRF, which is waiting for an update in Acheron Falls. Maybe cheesy isn't so much the right word for camo spam as obnoxious.
Steel Phalanx has a few common counters, but Posthumans and Achilles are true cheese.
>>317411
They have their own reasons for cheesiness.
Achilles is Achilles, and I don't really like him either. Posthumans do a crazy amount of work for an absurdly cheap price, and even if you manage to kill all of the proxies, it'll still generate an order as long as you have Netrods on the table.
Consider this, the standard barebones Posthuman build is a Mk1/Mk2/Mk5. That is a WIP 15 Doctor/Engineer, a WIP 15 Assault Hacker with TO Camo (and since all of the proxies count as a single trooper, it still technically generates an order while in hidden deployment as long as you have other proxies/Netrods) and an FO with Forward Deployment and two SMGs, all with NWI and all for 41pts/0.5 SWC. Throw in the obligatory Netrods, and that's 4 orders for 53pts, and one of those orders will never go away until every single one of those six models have been removed from the table.

>Yu Jing: The other global superpower in a (relatively) cold war with PanO. China bought all of East Asia's debt during the global market crash and is no longer 'de gommie meness :::::DDd', they're just Chinese Supremacists to the point of every other asian being a second class citizen in their police state. Another big focus on tech, only this time it's power armour with Heavy Infantry being abundant
>Haqqislam: Islam has its reformation and adopts humanist principles, ushering in a new golden age as it becomes essentially a trade broker between PanO and YJ, as well as selling Silk (not the fabric) of which it has a monopoly on. Not the richest faction but getting there, it has some neat stuff but mostly relies on bio-engineered light infantry with useful skills
>Nomads: AnCaps in space = Space Gypsies. Civilisation spread across three giant ships with no centralised government whatsoever, leading to catgirls, hardcore religious fundies, actual feminazis, etc. Focused on tricky hacking more than other armies with the willpower to back it up, can really fuck with people before putting the knife in. BFFs with Haqq, hated by PanO & YJ
>Ariadna: The first major space colony and failure. A wormhole was opened to planet Dawn, the colonists (Russians, US, French and Scots) were sent through and the wormhole collapsed, ending the global space programme and initiating the finanical crisis. Cut to 200 years later and they've founded their own civilisation that's 2 centuries behind everyone else in tech, but has access to Teseum, an extremely strong and workable metal abundant to Dawn, now Ariadna. PanO and YJ both laid claim to the planet on rediscovery, but ultimately sovereignty was given to the settlers. Buddies with Haqq and Nomads, don't like YJ and PanO. On the table they're cheap mass infantry with great armour, relatively inferior guns, lots of geurilla infiltrators and heavy flamers. NoTAGs though.
>Aleph: The last of the human factions, Aleph is the military/peacekeeping wing of the O12, essentially the space UN only incredibly effective and with a blank cheque on defence spending. Brimming with Recreations (pod grown genetically engineered humans based loosely on historical figures, mainly Greek legends) and post-human robots, Aleph are highest-tech. May or may not be beneficent dictators run by AI
• Combined Army: Big bad evil aliens. Made an AI to teach them how to ascend, only it was so smart it knew they weren't worthy of it so it ascended itself and left them. They made a new AI that was dumb enough to give them the answer, but is now too dumb to ever actually be capable of ascending (and it doesn't know it). Now it wants more power for calculations and does so by enslaving whole species and turning their planets into giant computers. The quest for RAM is done with lots of tricky units with unique and special powers, plasma weapons, bio-mechs, etc. Closest thing to villains in the game
>Tohaa: Possibly benevolent aliens that allied with humanity against the Combined Army but have no qualms whatsoever with fucking their new friends over. New kids on the block. Have symbiotic living armour and work well in fireteams
>Mercenaries: Not an army but consists of units you can field in others ranging from TAGs for hire, war journalists, ronin samurai, down and dirty soldiers of fortune, etc.

Ultimately though, the thing that sells Infinity the most is the crunch. There are two distinctive things that stick out:
1. Order system: Almost every unit you take adds 1 order to your pool. Turns consist of spending every order you have. Instead of doing what other systems do where every unit can do something in each phase, instead orders can be used on whoever you want to do whatever it is they can do. You can try and run a balanced advance, you can try to go "Rambo" with a lead unit and lots of cheerleaders. This versatility means you're actually thinking about what you can do and who can do it. In addition to this, when a unit dies they take that order with them. Losses don't just remove that soldier from your options, they remove the order that another soldier could use too. Losses are felt, and being limited due to casualties does put the pressure on.
2. It's never not your turn, you just take turns on who is Active and Reactive. The Active player is the one currently spending orders to do stuff, with an order being structured as either 1 long skill or 2 short skills. If, however, any of the Reactive player's units have line of sight to the unit that's doing something, they all get to react. No longer do your guys just stand there waiting to get shot. Big scary dude moves in your direction and opens fire? You can dodge into cover. Lightweight unit runs into the open to take an objective? Light them up. It's an incredibly satisfying system when you get your head around Face To Face rolls.
These plus other factors make Infinity a very lethal game where anything can kill everything, none of your units are safe and every order is a risk:reward calculation. You could move a guy across a street thinking it's clear, your opponent's sniper comes out of camo and says "I saw that, I'm taking a shot", you respond by firing back but they just manage to roll better with mods and take your guy out. One order was spent and it changed your gameplan. Things like flamers (auto-hit, if you suffer a wound roll for armour again, if you fail roll again, etc), explosives (hit once: three wounds to save) and so on help make things extra dangerous.
As you can guess, because being seen when you do anything opens you up to reactions, cover is a massive part of the game. All starter boxes come with papercraft terrain of decent quality and it's imperative that you use it. If you player on an open map like 40k then whoever went first would get annihilated in turn 1.
Weapons have effective range bands that help you stack mods. Shotguns for example are +6 to hit within 8", it's not uncommon to see them be at 19 or less to succeed on a D20. Critical hits are also a thing; hitting your skill after mods exactly (eg. shooting attack at BS 12, enemy in cover -3, enemy has mimetism -3, in range with weapon +3 = hitting on 9 or less. Roll a 9, crit) leads to a crit, which automatically cancels your opponent's action and does whatever it is you wanted.
Hacking plays a fairly prominent theme too, with it being an effective way to take out heavy infantry, remote and TAGs. The benefit to hacking is you don't have to see your target; as long as they're within your Zone of Control (8" radius) or the ZoC of a repeater (certain units are essentially wifi hubs with a gun attached) they'll show up on your scanner and open themselves up to being hacked. Anything from blowing up the wetware inside enemy hackers' skulls to straight up switching off the enemy's armour is available. Commonly used to fuck up drop troop's flight path and force them to land elsewhere or to even take over enemy TAGs and go on a tear with them.
It's an incredibly fun and rewarding system. Tabletop X-Com. Highly recommend trying out a demo game if you can. In the meantime I recommend MiniWarGaming's "Leaning Infinity" battle reports or Beasts of War's stuff (who just ran Wotan as an official campaign with Infinity's creators Corvus Belli, they're big on the community aspect). Also recommend checking out the 1d4 page and subsequent faction tactics pages to see what faction sounds the best to you - https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Infinity_(wargame)
If you get lucky and have a friend that wants to get involved, Operation: Icestorm (Nomads vs PanOceania) and Operation: Red Veil (Yu Jing vs. Haqqislam) are both great little boxes that contain a playmat, terrain, dice, templates and a mini rulebook.
Which reminds me: The rules for Infinity are completely free. Straight-up 100% no fucking around free. Both in .pdf form via their website (https://www.infinitythegame.com/archive.php) and via a wiki (http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Main_Page).
So yeah, hopefully that was useful to you. Infinity's probably the best tabletop I've played. Hope it does right by you.

You can get all the templates and tokens you need direct from the Infinity website, .pdf here - https://assets.infinitythegame.net/downloads/n3markers/a4/v1.0/n3markers.pdf
Attached a scaled version of the flames, circulars and silhouette templates shrunk slightly. The S2 template is definitively 25mm wide, so everything was shrunk to fit that defined value scale.
Aside from the Silhouette values, I wouldn't worry too much about the size of the templates. They've misprinted them in starter boxes before, they're out of scale in the .pdfs if you print at actual size (need to print as fit to page), etc. As long as it's roughly right, it's fine.
>Can I use leftover Warhammer templates?
Don't know, if anyone has the dimensions then post 'em. I'd hazard a guess that no you can't, though if you have access to a printer then you don't need to.

O-12 is the Infinity UN, named so because of the 12 planets in the Human Sphere. I imagine they attempt to keep anyone from legally conqering Earth, as PanO puts in the bare minimum amount of effort to keep what's left of the US west coast under their control just so Yu Jing doesn't get it. There are still apparently the conservative Muslims living in the ME that Haqq left behind, living in caves and blowing each other up. Russia seems to still be a sovereign nation. EU countries, South America, and Australia and surrounding islands belongs to PanO. Asia belongs to Yu Jing.

I don't think it was ever a collective thing, it was more a case of one sect getting an advantage over the others to the point of outright dominance over time through economic expansion rather than violent power struggle. Relatively small group of Muslims focuses on tech and scientific endeavour to capture the romanticised ideal of the Islamic golden age. Discover, refine and monopolise stuff that everyone else requires for expansion, suddenly become a very attractive prospect to outsiders because you're outwardly tolerant, peaceful and looking to trade. However it's still a setting where everyone fights everyone and there's infighting within those factions ("It's a wargame, then?"), so they're obviously not 100% above board and will make incursions into everyone's shit, especially when you consider that PanOceania are still overall 'in charge' and are outright Catholic fanatics to the point of making a pod-born Joan of Arc to lead their soldiers. There's room in the fluff for you to be a hidden wing of Haqq powers that, now they're financially dominant and hold the monopoly, want to start the new expansionist Caliphate. At the end of the day, their Book is the same, there will always be literalists/fundamentalists/people that actually see that it says "this is incontrovertible truth, all else is heresy" and go all out. Believable in that they gave a context for Islam to be relevant in the future beyond "it sticks around because religion just does that."
1D4's write up:
"HaqqIslam are followers of a new branch of Islam that preaches tolerance and scientific enlightenment, based on the Islam of the Golden Age. They're absolute masters of biotechnology and have a monopoly on a substance called Silk which allows for mind uploads/reincarnation, among other purposes. As such, they're financially secure and no one faction can really afford to take them out since they're officially neutral and sell the Silk to everyone who can buy. They have more of a reliance on light infantry than the first two factions, but this is compensated for by their more expensive troops having funky abilities thanks to bio-engineering and a lot of their infantry are religious fanatics which means their army stays on the table longer. They are also a shooty faction, but this is the norm rather than special."
For anyone that doesn't know; Religious is a special skill that reverses your Guts rolls. Normally you roll to pass or can just choose to fail, with failure meaning you must move upto 2" into nearest total cover and/or go prone. With Religious, you automatically pass and have to roll to fail. Beneficial if you've got units that need to stay in suppression and/or stay visible to deter people and soak up orders.

Only if they ever want to resurrect him themselves; they never commissioned him and he's been surviving well enough without any so far. They could also probably source Silk through other means. The Haqq sultanate is corrupt as fuck, Nomad black markets would resell it, etc.
Attached: William Wallace's fluff entry in the Human Sphere N3 book. TL;DR - Aleph made him (with support from PanO and YJ) to push Caledonian independence with intent to use him as their own agent. Landing on the planet was unsuccessful destroying his wetware & memories on impact. Nomads investigated him, destroyed whatever wetware was left, then handed him back over to Caledonia to use him against Aleph.

I think it was just the trade off they felt they had to make for having all of their rules be free online, down to the wiki, .pdfs, army builder website, etc. You can find some sparse fluff on the website itself to give a very brief overview of the factions as well as the fluff entries on the catalogue pages, but their stipulation seems to be "you can play it for free, but if you want any context you have to pay for it."
For me it was a fair trade, the rules got me hooked and I wanted to find out more, didn't feel like I was getting a raw deal buying the fluff books because I never had to buy them. Flipside is that because you never need to buy them, absolutely fucking no one knows the fluff so you don't get anywhere near the level of chatter like you do for 40k.

Space Russkies don't have their own sectorial yet so you can only access them in Vanilla. They will be getting one in future, apparently. The frogs don't get any access to dogs of any type, though they do get Loup-Garou who are in-fluff dogface hunters/handlers that get called in if they start kicking up a ruckus. The French are central to all the other groups so they don't have to deal with Antipodes much at all, but do have travelling Dogfaces and stuff in their territory.

*1x Devil Dog Team (1x Devil Dog, 1x K-9 Antipode)
*These three have weird rulings: Basically from those three units the maximum you can take is 2 total. eg. 1 Dog Warrior, 1 Cameronian. Or 1 Devil Dog Team, 1 Dog Warrior, etc.
Haggis can take:
4x Wulvers
3x Cameronians
McMurrough, Mercenary Dog-Warrior (who's available in other sectorial forces as well. My Corregidor Nomads can take him, for example)
Burger can take:
3x Devil Dog Teams
So if you want to go full dog I'd recommend staying vanilla for now. Rough estimate of points would put them at about half of a 300 point list. They're cheap, fast and expendable. If a unit is irregular or impetuous, it basically means it's meant to be flung at the enemy to soak fire and take something with it.

No. If after mods your chance of dodge and returning fire are the same, it's usually better to just shoot back since if you fail you get to take cover from guts anyway (if you live).
Logic table:
Return Fire - success: Stand still so can still make AROs and be a defensive threat, potentially wounded enemy.
Return Fire - fail: If hit then potentially wounded, take a guts roll or choose to make a 2" dodge move
Dodge - success: 2" dodge
Dodge - fail: Don't move. If hit, potentially wounded and guts/2" move
Unless you really care about that unit or the enemy is going to storm you, it's better to deter them and keep that guy there if the odds are equal.

Mysterious aliens offering to help people out so the Combined Army don't fuck our/their shit. Will most likely turn on us at first convenience, already does whatever is most advantageous for them whenever it suits them to do so (like Eldar, but nowhere near as long-term regarding Just As Planned). Have access to lots of bi-engineering like symbio-tech, so a few units have multiple profiles that get worse after taking a wound and the armour dies. Also have access to a lot of fireteams since they have a thing for the number 3 and like grouping people that way. New kids on the block so not quite as fleshed out as anyone else yet, but they're supposed to be very good on the table provided you use them properly.

Fairly bad idea, though on the table they are a good unit and can be fireteamed. Also getting some new models soon.
Bakunin does also host a matriarchal cult which is where the Reverend units come from (Healers, Custodiers, Moiras). They do have male members, but they're made into Sin-Eater Observants where they essentially exist to be flagellated and give their lives in service of the order. On the table they get something to reflect that nature; Neurocinetics. Reduces their active shooting to 1 shot only, but gives them full burst with their weapon when defending as opposed to the usual 1. Basically they exist to be nice guy feminist ally cucks that take their anger out on whoever dares not leave the lady be.
Needless to say I don't run Bakunin. (((Aleph))) got one thing right, Bakunin has to be utterly purged.

But, when she gets her new robot and her new backup crew and fights the Combined, she gets her brain fried. Did her old robot not have the feedback stuff? Do the Ayyys have a special ability to remotely fry TAG pilots? Or am I digging too deep into this?

The CA do in fact have a new special hacking attack called "Goodnight" which the Umbra appeared to have used on Toni. In game you use the program on a unmanned unit that has been damaged into the "unconscious" state. If the program hits and damages the unit it instantly eliminates the unit completely and has it removed from the table.
So the CA do have the ability to fry the TAG operators now. This development was actually referenced a bit in the recent TAGLINE ITS campaign.

I had this hold-over idea I was considering for my Nomads. I painted them red-blue-gold (after the Izzet from MtG) and I planed to create magic-like effects on my hackers using clear silicone caulk colored with inks. Going off of this, I can just use regular warm colors for a flame effect on my hackers to play off of Zoroastrianism's thing with fire. Not sure what I would use for the color scheme, though.

To be fair, HaqqIslam is so different from contemporary Islam I'm still sort of surprised there hasn't been a fatwa or death threat issued by some salafi or wahhabist against CB accusing them of a Crusader-Zionist plot to "reform" Islam.
Haqqislam isn't salafi or wahhabist so thats a beheading right there. Women feature pretty prominently in Haqq forces with their faces and bodies on display, tempting men into sin so thats another beheading. I think there were references to Shiite stuff in the fluff too so you got them supporting apostates too.
Europe gets any worse in regards to its Jihadi problem and CB may need to move to the US.

What is Aristeia!?
Aristeia! is the new board game from Corvus Belli, an Infinity spin-off in which two players become the managers of two competition teams for the greatest show in the Human Sphere. Players will face each other in the arena, and will have to plan their actions carefully to win.
So, is this game independent from infinity?
Yes, absolutely independent. Aristeia! is a board game, not a miniature wargame, and has been designed from scratch as a parallel product. Although it’s still in the Infinity universe, this new board game is not compatible with the acclaimed metal miniature wargame.
Which is the Release date?
The expected release date is late 2017. Those who come and visit us at Gen Con, Essen or the Interplanetary will have the opportunity to try the game in our demonstration tables.
Although it says it's not compatible, I'm hoping the models are the same scale so they can be ported over. Maximus, Hexx3r, Gata and Miyamoto are great. Miyamoto's already a merc in Infinity proper.

In the fluff Aristeia! is a competitive blood-sport, most popular in the Human Sphere. Don't think they've given specifics on what it actually entails beyond some slight descriptions, but I've not read all the fluff. Carlos did a spot with Beasts of War (embed) talking about it and mentioned some card mechanics in addition to possibly needing to hold zones almost like a King of the Hill style game, but they're saving the actual gameplay demos for GenCon. Miyamoto Mushashi's fluff actually has some brief explanation of what he did in it (this Aristeia! model is his fifth resculpt):
"Shinmen Musashi no Kami Fujiwara no Genshin (1584?-1645), who chose as his adult name the town where he was born, Miyamoto, was a famous Japanese master swordsman and ronin. He took part in more than sixty duels, of which he lost none, and three military campaigns. As a master, he achieved the status of Kensei or “sword saint”, and authored Gorin No Sho, the Book of Five Rings—or Five Elements."
"ALEPH created Project Duelist at the request of the Maya network VissioRama, who wanted to reinvigorate its Aristeia! channel with a new star, a Recreation. They asked for a modern twist on the Miyamoto Mushashi persona with the intention of producing a Maya series documenting his present-day Musha-Shugyo, the warrior’s pilgrimage undertaken by the real Musashi in the years 1605 to 1612, only with a slight name alteration to avoid legal issues. The show, depicting his voyages across the Human Sphere and his duels against other Aristos, was an immediate hit. Critics, Aristeia! fans and celebrity worshippers all acclaimed the prowess of this legendary swordsman. “Breathtaking, awe-inspiring. Miyamoto has the skill of a master, the heart of a lion and the zeal of a tiger” (CloseCombat magazine, Maya). And yet, slowly but surely, interest declined and ratings went down. Mushashi was a stern, solemn person, and lacked the necessary frivolity to play to the tune of the Aristeia! star system. The show could be very exciting, but it was not much fun. Like his namesake, with whom he shared his combat experience, he was a warrior at heart, and considered the notion of using aesthetic criteria in combat to be utterly nonsensical. His dueling style was quick and efficient, but not spectacular. It was over too soon for his Maya audience and the VissioRama producers. The network asked for his personality to be erased and rewritten as a flashier, more ratings-oriented duelist. But a hacker, a self-proclaimed fan of Mushashi, was intercepting internal communications at VissioRama and alerted his idol, who immediately vanished into the night."
"These days Miyamoto Mushashi is wanted for assault, for breach of contract against VissioRama, for taking part in illegal duels, for the murder of several Aspects and for insubordination against ALEPH—for which he seems to feel a deep-seated hatred. With those charges against him, and with such powerful enemies, he has been forced to live the life of adventure he was born for. The life of an outlaw, a mercenary duelist, a life on the alert, on the lam, in constant danger. An aimless runaway without a home to go back to. Gone for months at a time and forgotten, only to resurface in distant war stories or illegal arenas. All that danger and all those clandestine Aristeia! circuits have honed his martial prowess with true grit. With his personal style of kenjutsu called Niten Ichi or Nitō Ichi (“Two Heavens as one” or “Two Swords as one”), Miyamoto Mushashi has again validated his status as a sword saint, but it is a dark, deadly sainthood."

>Also I can't help but note there is no Ariadnan Dog-warrior. Guess they are holding them till the inevitable expansion.
>Dont tell me there is no Ariadna in this thing
They have confirmed that they're already working on the expansions, but from the looks of things Aristeia! may take place slightly before Infinity does (Miyamoto is still an Aristo rather than a mercenary) so Ariadna may not be too involved. That said, there's two Nomads there (Hexx3r and 8-Ball) so who knows?
>>320878
Aye, Dog-Bowl's a thing in-universe but to be honest Blood Bowl's already on the market and they're a relatively small company. More likely to see an ex Dog-Bowl player that got booted for being too brutal becoming an Aristo instead and them using that background to make his special powers with.

I've not seen the RPG's timeline but I'm guessing there has to be enough wiggle room to include Mushashi and Ariadna as there is some time between the rediscovery of Ariadna, the commercial wars and the "present".
Also, given how many damn sculpts there have been of Mushashi they could just say this is VissioRama's Mushashi 2.0 with extra built in safeguards.

Noticed that the Blackjack still doesn't have a model yet, despite being a potentially cool model; most likely some sort of Fallout-style bulky powered exoskeleton with plates slapped on. People have been using Haqq Azra'il minis as proxies since they're the same size and there's an AP HMG variant, though I think the pose of the Fuerbach pose fits better.
Anyway, did a paintover concept for conversion; reducing plate detail, adding a plate here and there, generally making it look more like USARF plate.

We should be seeing Vedic Aleph soon-ish maybe hopefully. I heard rumors its supposed to release during GenCon independently of Acheron Falls much like OCF and USARF did, but now I'm hearing rumors about Varuna edging them out of that spot.
I don't know why they picked Aleph for Steel Phallus. I guess someone in CAB had a hard-on for Greek mythology, and Aleph was the only feasible way of justifying all of those mythological heroes running around. They're an odd duck, it seems like they play so wildly different from what I imagine Vedic will play like.

They can range from "basically just a generic trooper" to "holy fucking shit, I have a -12 to hit Achilles and everyone is dying". There are Dire Foes characters that are usually reasonable, sometimes you get special characters that are basically just premium versions of those troopers (Kirpal Singh is basically an Akali, Cassandra Kusanagi basically Reverend Moira, etc.). Some, like the Unknown Ranger, are unique. Then you get the Recreations, which usually aren't auto-include because they all have abilities and traits that you should be building around.
Overall, though, it doesn't matter too much. Named characters are always good to have, but it doesn't get in the way too much. A great deal of the action is done by no-names and the objective-based mission slant leaves a lot of room to "forge your own narrative". Saladin and Big Dick Mansuri aren't stopping me from playing Haqq as not Muslims, and nothing should be stopping you.

do not play to their advantages and play the mission
playing a sectorial removes the general balance all the infinity factions have to uber specialize them on a narrower band, so, try not to play Camo Spam against the Imperial Secret Service and do not try to outshoot NeoTerra
pepper the table with a few cheap flash pulse AROers, like WarCors and REMs, as well as mines, teddies and regular mines, your opponent will spend orders trying to neut those, meaning his fireteams and specialists are doing less objectives
if they don't have visors but you have smoke, simply set up the smoke from where the fireteam cannot see you and advance (do not shoot 4+ men teams through smoke, they null the -6 mod)
camo specialists like zeros and foxtrots are great to secure objectives because while in marker state you can slip them through lines of fire and your opponents cannot shoot them until they discover them or you have your trooper do something other than move; quickly maneuver (move + move) past firing lanes and into objectives: they cannot react with intuitive attacks in your turn, teddies cannot boost against a marker, only mines can explode in their face, if they ARO with only one dude and it is a Discover and your are in your gun's optimal range then blow his face off and if they have multiple Delays then just keep moving past them into full coverage
you can also sneak an infiltrator/impersonator and soften the fireteam from an advantageous point, or use spec fire to the same effect
high burst weapons + nimbus grenades can also shave off a fireteam's fortitude (-1 burst and -3 BS regardless of visors)

You mean for the RPG, right? What if we were to replace the sword with, say, a suit of armor?
Now that I think about it, Infinity lore is actually pretty malleable when taken in broad strokes. It's got that nice sweet spot of real world familiarity and lots of thematic and physical space to explore with little hard lore to worry about contradicting. Having nanomachines around to explain away all of the crazier stuff, depending on how loose you want to get, really does give it a Metal Gear quality. In my mind, it seems like MGS's just-kind-of-bonkers tone works really well for the setting.

No, they're going to pull an MRRF.
They're just getting a bunch of SKUs pulled from production to make room for Varuna, and a few paltry updates in Army Builder to make up for it. Acon will still remain a legal PanO sectorial. The real shitty part is that three of the SKUs being canned are resculpts from the last year or two. I don't know why they couldn't have pulled Neoterra instead. Who buys any of that?

Because Svalarheima doesn't exist as a sectorial and won't until the next expansion after Acheron Falls. They'll likely have to pull another sectorial to make room for that, unless they're able to somehow resolve their inventory issues before that. And there's only two SKUs, one of which is a major vanilla staple, so removing them makes even less sense than removing Acon does.

Depends heavily on the rules comprehension of both players involved, but for me, a standard 300pt game might be somewhere in the ballpark of 2 hours. If you stick to just whatever you get with the 2-player starters and Beyond expansions, games will run a little smoother since you're cutting down to a limited number of models and rules; then you can ease yourself into more complicated stuff as you start to get accustomed to the motions.

It's a sci-fi plausable deniability grey-ops game about operators operating operationally; the average army list is 10-17 dudesmen total, and many game scenarios prioritize securing objectives rather than murdering all of the opponents. Hack this, activate that, escort civilian, etc. Each unit you field gives you a general order marker, which you can use to spend to activate any unit during your turn. Any time you activate a unit, any opposing unit with LoS to that unit or within 8" can take a reaction order.

I actually think the knights are a bit overrated, and the recent 3O rework made the sectorial kind of a mess. I went for PanO because of them, but Acontecimento is what ended up stealing my heart.

To my knowledge, the general synopsis is:
>CA ramps up the fight on Paradiso
>kicks everyone's ass; puts Acontecimento out of commission
>steals some relic the Teutons were guarding
These recent books don't include any new rules or unit profiles; the only reason to get them is for the fluff. I don't know anyone who has it, and I haven't seen scans of it pop up either. Given how piss poor Uprising's writing quality was, I wouldn't expect 3O to be any better.

It's better than Uprising (not that it's a high bar to cross), but still not quite to the standard of basic books, also quite a bit of repeated/filler material.
also I should have the scan done by the end of next week

Does anybody on here have any experience with the Coldfront box?
As this >>257539 said, the Russians looks so damn nice. Plus I can dig the Aleph GitS vibe. And, getting into Aleph would also open the option to get Hector and his adorable shield robot.

Hector actually would not be a good purchase to complement the Coldfront box, at least not at first. The box focuses on a different sectorial of Aleph than what Hector belongs to, and Hector shines much better played in his own sectorial.
I'm guessing you're new to the game?

Steel Phalanx, right? I read a bit more about it after posting. The Coldfront pack is mostly light Aleph units, no?

Coldfront is all OperationS. The Beyond box is great, but you should also have the Dakini, Rebot, and Posthuman boxes and the Danava at the top of your list as well. The support box and Nagas are also incredibly important, but may also possibly get resculpts sometime in the near future hopefully. Actually, on that subject, the Posthuman Mk1 -3 box the one with the qts are older sculpts, and does not include a Mk2 with the all important boarding shotgun, so that may be up for a resculpt in the future as well.
>>415633
That's kind of a complicated question with a complicated answer, but I guess not really, and definitely not to the extent of other games these day. They do some questionable things sometimes, like Rosie Munroe's backstory being a blatant rip-off of Rosie the Riveter. Haqqislam places it in an incredibly odd spot; I guess it's mostly up to individual taste, but they really don't feel very Islamic.
On the other hand, their TnA game is strong (see >>258509 and >>259985 for an incomplete and outdated list), and they never give any mind to socio-political issues in fluff, Bakunin and the aforementioned Munroe being exceptions. It feels like just a bunch of guys doing whatever the hell they want. Spaniards operate on a different wavelength than the rest of Europe, I guess.

>Haqqislam don't feel very Islamic
If I were to hazard a guess, I would assume this has to do with Spain being ruled by Islam for a good while. Might be what contributes to a different picture of what Islam is/should be.
