I'm annoyed with the hitreg in general. The BFB literally breaks the engine, lag correction is hamfisted, flamethrowers can shoot through certain walls and their damage is dependant on ping. Backstabs are just another symptom of the broken mess that Valve has made.

moving backwards makes you move slower so its easy to get facestabbed by doing that. what you should do is either stand still and track/melee if you can or while backing up hit a or d and youll be strafing which doesn't make you move slower

damage on flamethrowers isn't affected by ping its just that individual flame particles are harder to perfectly aim when playing without lan ping. the walls thing is an engine bug so its probably fixable but even so its a fucking flamethrower. if you could shoot flare through it it would be an issue but flame damage is so minimal and on top of that there are multiple items in the game that remove afterburn.
