Hey /tf/, how was everyone's halloween?

No children came to my house, so I just made myself a raw pumpkin pie and ate it alone while watching horror movies. Nothing too special. Didn't dress up or anything either, and that's mostly because I don't feel very comfortable in my own skin.

And that got me thinking. Genetic modification will one day become a reality for humans. Now, let's just say theoretically that this technology is announced tomorrow and released within a year, is relatively inexpensive and mostly safe (as safe as traveling by plane, so there's still a chance something could go wrong). However, every change you make is permanent, for example if you decide to grow a tail, you're stuck with that tail forever. What kind of aesthetic changes would you make to your own body?

Personally I'd want to be shorter (~5 feet), have better skin, hairless, and I'd probably make myself a girl. I can also technically do this with the technology that exists today, minus the height reduction, and I probably will soon.

Halloween was pretty meh.

Going off of your scenario: I would like to become a girl, and try to look as much like Xianghua from Soul Calibur as possible, so a race change as well.

I would save up and wait until I could work from home, also if I could swing it: start dating a women who's planning on becoming a man. Ideal fantasy scenario.

More realistically, I'm waiting on fully immersive virtual reality to spend my free time in.

I would want to be null all over. As in, no nipples, no genitals, just smooth. Weird fetish of mine.

I'd probably just stick with my fursona because I'm a furfag.

- Eliminate/minimize any defects in the human genome to be free of any disease.

- Increase metabolism so it's easier to maintain an ideal body weight.

- Higher endorphin production related to doing some of my more constructive hobbies, like writing or perhaps reading.

- Perhaps regulate serotonin levels to be well adjusted.

- Strengthen bone density and improve conditioning.

- Depending on how old I was when this technology was available, I'd like to work with extending the half life of my DNA and changing my body to somewhere around 21 years old.

- Also the obligatory cute girl transformation. Treat it as a reincarnation perk. Also regulate menstrual cycles to have better control over emotional content. This also lines up with me being a closet attention whore.

This thread was originally for aesthetic changes. Also:

>- Increase metabolism so it's easier to maintain an ideal body weight.

This would do more harm than good. It would mean it would take more food to fuel us, and more fuel = more money, more resource usage, etc. Just increase physical activity so you don't have to keep starving yourself to be thin.

I've actually gotten into the habit of sprinting any chance I get; on the way to work between bus rides I'll just start running as fast as I can and for as long as I can. I also started lifting and I'm looking to invest in an exercise bike to use whilst watching anime. This way I can pretty much eat as much as I want and still lose weight. It's slower than starvation, but it's more sustainable in the long run and you're less likely to binge and regain everything, like I did when I went from 210 to 135, then back to 195 within 5 months… The binge was real.

A healthy lifestyle is far more realistic and affordable than this technology that won't even exist in our lifetimes.

>technology that won't even exist in our lifetimes

I'm surprised someone in the TF community doesn't know about CRISPR and the implications it will bring to the gene modding world.

It wouldn't shock me if the gov't started making chip implants mandatory for every citizen, just so they can fucking tell people apart.

Ya know, this is completely 100% off topic, but I bet you a hundred bucks the evangelicals will throw a damn hissy fit and start quoting Revelations about the mark of the beast that the world government requires everyone to have in their forehead or arm/hand.
