This thread is for all discussion of Ebola-chan. Discussing other disease-tans in relation to Ebola-chan is also allowed, but because /cure/ is a separate board, we ask that all Cure-tan discussion be limited to its own thread.

Ebola-chan is an anthropomorphic personification of the Ebola virus. She looks like a young petite pale girl somewhere in her teens. Typically, she dresses in a white nurse coat covering her to her upper legs, with an accompanying white nurse cap bearing her sigil (a winged blood drop) on her head. Her lower clothes are more debatable and range from nothing at all to simple shoes and long socks creating absolute territory. In case of the socks, however, it is generally agreed they too are white. In her hair she wears a white lilac flower with five petals. She's occasionally seen carrying a (sometimes bleeding) human skull around whose origins are unknown, but probably belonged to a victim of hers.

For the most part, Ebola-chan looks like a normal human, but there are a few telltale signs she's anything but. The irises of her eyes are bright yellow. She has fangs. Out of her back grow purple bat wings. And most tellingly, her unnatural pink-coloured hair has two twintails that end in fleshy tendrils giving off an aura of malice and looking a lot like ebola in its virus form.

Ebola-chan is an optimistic, sociable person. She loves travelling to new places, meeting new people, and spreading her love as far and wide as she can to as many people as possible. That this usually causes them to die is no concern of her. It's unknown if she fully understands the ramifications of her actions, or understands but considers it a good thing in her mind.

Her original design was created by an artist on Pixiv, following the West African ebola outbreak of 2014. After a caucasian doctor was infected but successfully treated with medicine, he was paraphrased as saying "I am growing stronger", causing half/pol/ to adopt Ebola-chan as the subject of a meme claiming that while nonwhite people would die from her love, white people would gain godlike abilities from it. They also launched a fake(?) death cult supposedly trying to help her spread her love through blood rituals, with the apparent end goal being to summon her into the real world as an egregore. Because of these events, Ebola-chan is sometimes portrayed as /pol/s daughter.

Another interpretation moves her away from /pol/ and more into her own thing, where she's joined by other tans of hemorrhagic fever viruses - her "sisters".

Marburg-sama (the Marburg virus) is Ebola-chan's older sister. She's more serious and to the point about her work, and takes great sadistic pleasure in how she affects people, making her the most malicious one of the bunch.

LLOV-chan (the Lloviu virus) is Ebola-chan's younger sister. She's an innocent prankster harbouring no ill will toward people. Thus far she hasn't been spotted in humans, but she'd love to make contact and have fun with them.

In an expansion of the second interpretation or in a possible third one, the three sisters, alongside many other disease-tans like Malaria-sama, AIDS-san and Zika-chan among others, all serve under Mother Rot, a powerful force of decay overseeing her part of the cycle of life, as well as the many afterlives where the victims of her children end up. Yet another interpretation claims Ebola-chan to be a daughter of Warhammer 40000 chaos god Nurgle, although this one is probably the least serious of the bunch.
