Alunya is a 21 year old caucasian catgirl, although her short stature and modest feminine assets make it easy for people to mistake her as much younger. She has shoulderlength black hair, red eyes and little fangs. Other feline traits include cat ears furred in the same black shade of her hair, and an equally black tail. Besides this, she however appears fully human. Alunya typically wears a simple black dress with a red belt, a scarf or red-and-black ascot (useful for covering her face during protests), and high black boots, although she has been known to wear other outfits. She occasionally also wears a peaked cap or a budenovka.

Alunya is very passionate about her nonspecified branch of communism, and will tirelessly devote herself to its spread and combat capitalism in all its forms. Seeing as most people can't be bothered to care too deeply, or hold different political beliefs, it often leaves her defensive, if not overtly hostile, toward the rest of the world.

When 8chan got its 8chan.co domain name taken away and the site temporarily went down, /leftypol/ was offered refuge by GETchan on a newly constructed replacement board. They returned after 8ch.net was instated as the new domain name, but in remembrance of their solidarity, as well as the boards' subsequent friendship and their joint membership in the Union of Soviet Socialist Channels (USSC), /leftypol/ made GETchan's mascot Rodina Getović an honourary second board-tan.

Rodina is a 10 year old caucasian girl with long blond hair and blue eyes. She typically wears a sailor dress consisting of a short-sleeved white blouse with a red ribbon necktie, a blue pleated skirt, and simple black shoes with knee-high white socks. On her head she wears a red garrison cap with a yellow-outlined star on her left side.

Rodina has a great interest in numbers along with her interest in communism. She's generally more optimistic when it comes to other people, which at times may make her seem naive and can lead people to deem her stupid. However, she has a knack for talking Alunya down when the latter's temper gets triggered and threatens to unleash violent revolution, which makes it unclear at times who exactly is looking out for whom.

In recent times, Rodina has been slightly reworked by /leftypol/ to fit their burgeoning "catgirl school" setting. She's aged up to her teens, and turned into a catgirl with red eyes, pale blonde ears and a tail. Her clothing is also more in line with Alunya's: a simple-ish black dress with a red ascot, red accents denoting buttons and pockets, and red frills at the end of her skirt and short sleeves.

Alunya will at times go up against Porky, a nemesis broadly representing captitalism who looks like a mixture of a fat pig and a smartly dressed businessman. He's usually seen smiling, which might imply Alunya's war against him isn't very effective and he doesn't consider her much of a threat.

/leftypol/ is one of the more active boards in terms of original content creation. Aside from Alunya and Rodina, over 20 other catgirls exist, each representing specific political ideologies from all over the spectrum. Unfortunately, most have little to no character development beyond their supported ideology, rarely being more than a name and design.

Alunya was made to encompass all of leftism, but she tends to have more historical anarchist references to her design.

Her name is from Catalunya, Catalonia in Catalan and is a reference to Revolutionary Catalonia of the 1930's.

Her bandanna is based on their flag, and symbolizes anarchism and communism.

Her overall design is based on the the sabo-tabby parodied here >>55, a symbol of strikes or sabotage by the IWW union, with disputed origins of its own.

She has a second white coat design that was suppose to resemble the more casual look of Catalonia fighters. It sometimes gets accused of being too Soviet.

A third design made by catgirl drawfag was made to combine the first two.
