In stark contrast to many other boards (of its time), /sp/ does not use an OC as their mascot. In fact, they don't even use a fictional character, although their interpretation somewhat differs from the real deal.

Wade Davis is an adult caucasian man in his late 20s to early 30s, depending on the date any particular OC of him was made. He has short red hair, a light beard with moustache, and presumably brown eyes. His outfit can vary, though it's usually some sort of baseball uniform, but he's always seen wearing a cap. His blue Kansas City Royals cap with white KC insignia is his most iconic feature, although more recent OC may update this to a CR insignia to reflect Davis now playing for the Colorado Rockies.

/sp/ OC doesn't delve deeply into its characters, but one notable way "their" Wade differs from the real one would be his obsession with GETs. Like the actual board members and many of their other OCs, /sp/ Wade is fascinated with repeating integers, and he will attempt to GET as many of them as possible, to the point of trying to steal any particularly big ones from other boards for the lulz infamy glory of /sp/.

Wade was already well established by the time /sp/ made the Exodus from halfchan to 8chan (alongside /v/ and /pol/, /sp/ was one of the three biggest boards to leave halfchan in disgust over the apparent censorship of #Gamergate discussion). Why he in particular caught /sp/'s eye over other players, or how he became entangled in the GET board culture, are mysteries lost to time. Nonetheless, despite /sp/ gaining many more meme figures throughout the years, Wade has stood steadfast as their most recognisable one.

Wadina Davis is a caucasian female who swings anywhere from teenager to young adult depending on the art. She has long brown hair and blue eyes, although the latter is usually not showcased due to her intentionally simplistic design. Like Wade, she always wears a blue KC cap. She's typically dressed in a grey Royals uniform with a V-neck and a white shirt underneath. The lower half can vary, but it's usually a skirt in the same uniform grey, and simple black shoes with white socks.

Wadina is the ultimate meme queen. She will steal your GETs, make cheeky remarks at you with with her permasmug grinning face, and you will love her for it. At times, she may cooperate with other /sp/ OCs to optimise her meme potential, but more likely than not she will be in conflict with them. Wadina does not play well with others, and will at best make them the butts of her jokes. At worst she may resort to lethal violence, still with that cheeky grin forever plastered on her face.

Wadina is the only confirmed /sp/ OC to have originated on 8chan. She existed as just another meme character for a while, but in late October 2015 /sp/ found out there was an actual real life person with said name. Investigation into this revealed a string of September 17 dates that all connected to each other in some way, something /sp/ could not possibly ignore during the Golden Age of meme magic. This made Wadina's popularity skyrocket, and her simple design made her one of the easiest characters to make OC of, which has ensured her longevity.

Over the years /sp/ has built up its own catalog of characters, most of whom seem to have started out as images that got spammed until the board just accepted and adopted them. Some of them include Bonzi/Bonzi-tan, "CR" ("Chinky/Cheeky Raccoon), "I lik criket"/Crikmonkr, the Seahawk Harpy, Plad, and so on. The exact origins of these characters are probably impossible to recover due to the /sp/artans' nomadic nature and frequent board wipes (/sp/ was forcibly subjected to using Infinity Next on 8chan, which led to them migrating again to 76chan - they've since moved around the internet a couple more times, with their previous homes usually getting deleted), but what limited archives remain suggest they became memes after /sp/ left 8chan (Bonzi in particular is strongly linked to 76chan). Coupled with the fact that these are at best expanded cast (only Wadina has any credible claim to being on par with Wade Davis), this puts them beyond the scope of this board.
