Bump the Deer is a heavily anthropomorphised and stylised female deer. She has messy short brown hair out of which her deer ears peek, blue eyes, and reddish brown fur with a cream-coloured snout and the bridge of her nose in the same colour as her hair. Bump is of average height (for her setting), has a slim and curvy build, and usually wears a light blue t-shirt saying BUMP, white gloves with light blue wristbands in the same colour as her shirt, dark blue shorts or spats that leave a hole for her tail and have BUMP written on the backside as well, and simple dark blue boots in the same shade as her pants. Although they are not visible when she wears her boots, Bump has cloven feet ending in two big toes.

Bump is a very happy-go-lucky person, always optimistic and nice to everyone, and a Sonic fangirl who loves to hear people talking about the franchise. She's also very active and likes to intentionally bump into things all the time, preferably with her behind. As could be expected from a mascot made by Sonic the Hedgehog fans, she has a lewd side.

Like many of the bigger, better known board-tans on 8chan, Bump came over from halfchan, specifically from /vg/'s Sonic the Hedgehog generals ("/sthg/"). She was created in early August 2014 when, taking inspiration from half/v/'s Bump Girl, the users decided they needed an OC to make bumping their thread more fun, as to prevent it from sliding off the board if the thread was slow. Many of Bump's design and characterisation choices are the result of meta origins. An anon made a "bump the hind" pun, so she was made a deer. Her fur was made reddish both to reference red deers as well as halfchan's red boards that allow pornographic imagery (the Sonic fans knew themselves well), and she was made "bumpy" in all the right places for the same reason. This is also why she bumps into things with her butt as opposed to her head.

Exactly a year and a day after Bump's inception, in early August 2015, idle talk (still on halfchan's /sthg/) about what her natural enemy might look like led to Sage's creation. Both in design and characterisation, she was made to be Bump's exact opposite.

Sage the Sloth is a three-toed sloth with neatly kept dark blue hair (often with a swept front bang), brown eyes with bags underneath, and light blue fur with a white snout with cheek tufts on the side. She's a bit shorter than Bump, and completely flat. She wears a baggy earthen brown longsleeved sweater with SAGE written on it vertically, dark brown pants and open toed brown sandals. On both her hands and feet, Sage has three big claws, with the addition of fourth opposable claws on her hands.

If Bump exudes positivity, Sage is negativity instead. She's serious, grumpy, and would really like for people to stop talking about Sonic all the time so she could finally get some sleep. To that end, she will sage, shitpost, and do whatever possible to derail the thread into getting deleted. However, despite that animosity, Sage does not seem to actively hate the Sonic franchise. Likewise, she's not the archenemy for Bump that the halfanons originally envisioned her to be. Bump may think Sage needs to lighten up and get out some more, whereas Sage may feel Bump should give it a rest sometimes, but their relationship is more that of roommate frenemies than nemeses.

Over the years, the /sthg/ audience has built up a large collection of OCs for their little community. None of them have been nearly as successful or enduring as Bump and Sage however, and they have yet to be seen on /fast/. Possibly, they did not make to the trip over to 8chan with Bump and Sage when the community jumped ship to /fast/.

I heard of this board on the bunker and I came here to post this myself. Never thought someone might have beaten me to the punch, but you definitely did a much better job than I could have.

Something that could be added is that over the years a lot of renowned artists of the franchise have drawn Bump. Pretty much all of the late drawing cast of Sonic's previous, long running Archie Sonic comics line have done it at one point or another, including Evan Stanley (first pic in >>301), Tracy Yardley, Tyson Hesse (which later came to work on the Team Sonic Racing Overdrive and Sonic Mania Adventures animations and on the upcoming Sonic movie), Jennifer Hernandez, and most likely others that I'm forgetting. Mostly as commissions, as people followed their profiles and took advantage when they opened them or when they were at conventions, but not always.

Other artists have drawn them too, like Nigel Dobbyn, from UK's Sonic the Comic, who has since unfortunately passed away.

Overall, Bump and Sage have been around for a number of years already and have amassed many hundred of pictures, a few animations and 3D models, and Bump even has been hacked into Sonic 1 as a playable character.
