http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gatalenta
>Gatalenta was a warm, uncommonly tranquil planet famed for its tea, lengthy, erudite poetry and meditative retreats. Natives of Gatalenta were renowned for their calmness and serenity, and rose each day to thank the planet's multiple suns for rising. Love and compassion were taught and practiced fondly by the people of Gatalenta, and crying openly was considered a virtue and proof of a caring heart.[1] The Gatalentan people were also known for living austerely, with the only colorful parts of their attire being traditional red cloaks. They were ruled by the Council of Mothers. Slavery was illegal on the planet, and slaves were not allowed to be brought to the planet. If a slave was brought there, and their master was caught, the slave was set free.[2] A member of the New Republic, Gatalenta was represented in the Galactic Senate for over twenty years by Senator Tai-Lin Garr. New Republic pilot Joph Seastriker also came from Gatalenta,[1] as did Resistance Vice Admiral[3] Amilyn Holdo.[2] In the years before the Galactic Civil War, Gatalenta had a strong Jedi tradition, and the old Jedi Expanded Universe remained alive on Gatalenta in spite of the Jedi Purge. In fact, Gatalenta became one of Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker's first destinations when he began studying the history of the Jedi Order.[1]

Why is this a notable aspect for them? Slavery was pretty much illegal everywhere else outside the Outer Rim and Unknown Regions. Any other core world would do the fucking same thing as long as it wasn't a super rich dude with diplomatic immunity or a hutt with twi'lek slaves. This might as well just be maximum virtue signaling.

The public weeping thing didn't really seem so bad in the context of "Bloodlines." More like how Koreans accept making a scene at a funeral than just collapsing and losing control over a scraped knee. It was clearly all downhill from those tidbits of background, though.
I guess it's worth mentioning that in addition to Gatalenta apparently having a matriarchial oligarchy as its idealized, serene, and compassionate government that the cited "Joph S theastriker" character was raised by a pair of lesbians.
Combined that with mysterious ability of a plentiful, placid, and tender culture somehow producing effective military leaders for a beleaguered rebellion and it's hard to argue it's not somebody's pet project for a Mary Suetopia.

No. Unless they were like the Barabels with their known but private esteem of the Jedi (which they don't seem to be), Gatalenta would experience the full force of Imperial persecution in occupation. COMPNOR would gladly use the restless youth of the world against the Council and other elders, such that by the Battle of Hoth, the latest generation would be composed of proud Imperial loyalists. Current day Gatalenta should be a hellhole of civil strife, as outsiders and traditionalists agitate for a return to the old days, while parents and their children mock and brutalize them for their willing weakness.

The rest of population wouldn't give a fuck
>The Gatalentan people were also known for living austerely, with the only colorful parts of their attire being traditional red cloaks.
A bunch of conformists.
Slavery being free on spot if thet landed? If the planet was a core world, probably that law would had remained in place. Remember that slavery in the Empire was basically for hard labor, away from civilized planets. The Empire didn't bothered the majority of population or altered the local governance outside military compliance, specially at human or core worlds.
If anything the place would be considered a quaint resort world and the local culture amusing to outsiders. Some shit like COMPNOR would arrive and start to alter some of the customs with the kids or whatever, like crying all over the place. The mommies wouldn't say a word because they would be imperial leaning ones, or nobody would say a word because the planet was under some moff administration.

Alright gents, I've got a question for you: How did COMPNOR work before the Declaration of the New Order? This is important, because it sets up the groundwork of what will follow for Gatalenta in the Imperial Era. Two other things I need: A rough area in the Galaxy where our benighted world is, and perhaps some insight into the warrior cultures of places with similarly mild climate, like Hawai'i for instance. I'd like to spice things up a little, if not too much.
I have it in mind that Gatalenta was one of the border worlds of the Imperial Remnant into Pellaeon's day, and thus was both a provider of fanatically loyal (if somewhat curt and moody lately) officers and a site of cold warfare with the New Republic/GFFA.

>Holdo had blue eyes and light-colored skin, and she was tall. In her youth, Holdo rebelled against the peaceful culture of her homeworld and expressed herself by dyeing her hair vibrant colors, wearing vibrantly-colored clothing, and going on daring escapades. In spite of that, Holdo showed great interest in esoteric practices of her planet, like meditation and astrology, and she was knowledgeable of the galaxy. Organa found Holdo to be insightful and charming, but also irritating at times.[1] Holdo had a quirky personality, often getting distracted, speaking in riddles and metaphors with a monotone/singsong voice, and being eccentric. She was by no means stupid, however, and her oddball persona hid a keen intellect. She was not afraid of death, and dreamed of dangerous adventures “to get more comfortable with the nearness and inevitability" of it. Holdo was a determined and patriotic person, able to react to changing circumstances and ready to sacrifice herself for the cause. As a commander she had a cool head for the greater strategy, and expected her orders to be executed precisely.
Not only that fuck me she's still STILL the special snowflake! On a planet which is basically utopia for them she still has to be the special one.

That is a legitimately offensive bio. I mean, this is sub early 00's freeform RP forum bullshit, this doesn't even have the guts to be moderately edgy or rebellious, this is just such complete and utterly sugar and spice and everything nice innanity. That's not a character, that's just a check-list of traits.

Holy fucking shit. How do you manage to out-snowflake the entire population of snowflake planet? This is worse than when Wendig transformed Mon Mothma's homeworld into snowflake land, only for it to be replaced by Galatea by the next movie. Disney couldn't even bothered to use a familiar world.

Astrology wouldn't make much sense except to ancient people without space travel. Once you have Hyperspace travel you can literally go to the Big Dipper and also it'd be different in all systems.

Makes the same sense as the Cult of the Power Droids, the Cult of Varn or any other religion or folk practice. It's not hard science, but a system of belief.

Not really per se. Unless you mean that there's a possibility that they genuinely believe their astrology is an actual spiritual practice and not a hobby and see the position of the stars as tied to fate, but even so there's barely anything spiritual about modern astrology for the most part, as most women who adhere to it see it as more of a casual game of sorts that they tend to poorly describe, and all in all its just another example of the faggots at Disney trying to be as tumblry as possible by introducing something tumblr girls enjoy doing. Also, the Cult of the Power Droids is simply droids trying to find a higher purpose for themselves, the Cult of Varn worships water since on their world it is a truly holy and rare commodity that should be cherished, the rest are based on greater unknowns that have no real answers and thus are up to interpretation or based on how a culture perceives the Force, so they have a far more deeper meaning and purpose than the "hobby"-like qualities of modern astrology. But space travel really would make it impossible to adhere to astrology if you're constantly off-world, which just makes Holdo all the more ridiculous; makes sense on a world that has not developed space travel and has found a way to somehow determine probability by tying the position of stars to their world and the function of their society. But Holdo's from a world that has mastered space travel and if anything Astrology there is probably as soulless as astrology articles in a women's magazine.

>Most living beings could also produce gasses through flatulence (informally known as "farting"), as flatulence was the accumulation of gasses in the digestive system which usually needed to be expelled. Unnaturally high levels of flatulence could be caused by incredibly potent spices, such as anilam, which almost ruined Snap and Karé's wedding when it caused all who had consumed the spice to release gas uncontrollably.[8]

Yep. After their retarded rebranding, they came in full force one day with their representative Rhea at the helm and completely fucked over the status quo and administrative staff into submitting to them using a "friendly" atmosphere and "solid reasoning" as to why they should change. Half of the older admins stayed for about a year or two before they abandoned ship. Only ones who remained behind were sad folks who know there's no other option (for the moment). Also oddly enough, several new users showed up in 2016 who are active 24/7 and edit at a rapid pace, as if they work on the wiki at all times and are run by multiple payed employees who focus solely on Disney technical info with a weird level of detail.
