Chances are some lawyer from the mouse pointed out a clause they'd slipped into his contract somewhere around the NDA section that states something along the lines of "not divulging any information on the film which may be damaging to it's reception, the brand or the company". Just a guess.

Imagine how badly Disney must have freaked out when they realized these videos were not only gaining traction but also striking a chord with their audiences. For reference "Mark Hamill Hurts" is on almost 600k views and "Mark Hamill Hates Star Wars The Last Jedi" is at 3.1 million.
It's no use forcing Mark to make a statement about how he "regrets" everything he said because he's already said it. Everyone has already heard it. There's no damage control in the world that could put out this fire and it's only going to rise higher with Solo just around the corner.

It’s a fundamental difference between Trek actors and Star Wars actors, which I think stems from the fact that in Star Trek, the continuity of the characters was often entrusted to the actors, where Lucas handled everything in Star Wars and everyone did what he said. So all of them like Lucas and working for him, but the model was, “listen to the boss.” Harrison Ford also hates Star Wars and Carrie Fisher was strung out, so there was no culture of caring about the characters.
Star Trek never had one boss. The Great Bird was too much of an idiot. Shatner’s first draft of Star Trek V had Spock and McCoy fall under the sway of a hypnotic televangelist and betray him. DeForest Kelley and Leonard Nimoy outright refused to do it and it had to be changed, purely because they said, “No, they’d never betray Kirk.”
George Takei, despite being a huge fag, refused to be in Star Trek: Generations because the script called for him to be ‘demoted’ from captain to helmsman. Howard Stern marveled at it, because he turned down a paycheck over a ‘fake’ promotion.
Arguably the actors shouldn’t be the guardians of quality, but Mark could have dug in his heels -and if he had been in a Star Trek environment for thriry years, he probably would have.

That would have been nice. Like you said the actors shouldn't be (and frankly shouldn't HAVE to be) playing quality control, but it would be nice if people involved in a big project spoke up with sufficient force when they noticed that something was retarded
I definitely get the feeling that Hamill tried but wasn't aggressive enough with it. Maybe he was afraid people would see him as the reason Star Wars failed, or perhaps he saw how easily they were able to recreate Cushing in Rogue One and figured they would just do the same to him.

>Maybe he was afraid people would see him as the reason Star Wars failed
This is probably it. In all of his interviews he talks about how it's "the next generation's movies now", and similar things of that sentiment. The only problem is he convinced himself that Disney's soulless golem was in fact what the fans wanted. Also, to go back to the Shatner comparison, I'm not sure if Mark would have been able to pull it off to the same degree Will did. Shatner was pretty instrumental to every project he was involved in, more than that he was the face of the franchise and it would surely tank without him. And while that's true of Hammill to a certain extent, there's been a lot of content put out in between him being star of RotJ and having a supporting role in TLJ. Shatner in contrast starred in 6 films, supported in one other, and starred the most iconic show in the franchise. And even when he's not the star they're always making references to either him or TOS in the spin-offs. But Luke hasn't been central to the series like that since RotJ, and instead of making references to the old stuff (I mean explicit callbacks to concrete events and the like, not just stealing imagery and plot-points) Disney has been actively trying to separate their new shit from the old.

well it's like i said, hamill just didn't have the same pull that a guy like shatner did. ford might have been able to get disney to back off if he gave enough of a fuck about han solo, but he also wanted han dead back in empire, so that was no good (typical jew team-up).

Ford doesn't hate Han per se, but he hates the fact that so many people remember him primarily as "the guy who played Han Solo." He didn't want to be typecasted so he actively tried to distance himself from the role.

Its weird. Although maybe it was because he was only known for playing Han Solo until 1981 (when the first Indiana Jones came out). So he probably had to put up with being only known for playing Han Solo for about 4 years since not many knew him for anything else before SW. Maybe 4 years of 70s fanboys screaming shit at you whenever you went outside and calling you Han probably had something to do with that. Then again, that might not be the case at all since I don't know if there are any documentaries or interviews that specifically focuses on that part of Ford's personal life.

The Deckard narration in context plays like a Philip Marlowe in the dystopian future. Compare the fanedit "the version you've never seen before" that restores much of the deleted narrative and alternate scenes and compare it to any Philip Marlowe classic.
