Well the Friends show is kinda shit, you wouldn't get used to the cast of DS9 being in a non-science-fiction drama, it just wouldn't work. I mean it COULD work if something similar is done in the holodeck, like Sherlock in TNG or 'Far Beyond the Stars DS9 S06E13' for a few episode with continuous plot elements that tie together such episodes as an escape for the crew from the otherwise grim reality of their situation, but it would probably not work as its own show

Pretty much this. Keep the alien characters, with their same traits and personalities, but in a sitcom setting. I'd watch it.
