>"In the midst of a Borg invasion ten years after the Battle of Wolf 359, Starfleet Cadet Qaylan Furlong is given an opportunity by Q (John de Lancie) to go back in time and prevent his father's death in the historic battle."
>"The live action segments of Star Trek: Borg were directed by James L. Conway and featured the return of John de Lancie as Q. The duo had previously worked together on the Star Trek: Voyager episode 'Death Wish'."
>"The USS Righteous sets are mostly redressed versions of the sets of the USS Voyager from the Star Trek: Voyager series, with the exception of the bridge, which was a redressed form of the bridge of the USS Excelsior as seen in the Voyager episode 'Flashback'."
>"Visual effects shots for this game were originally produced for the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine pilot episode "Emissary" which also depicts the Battle of Wolf 359."
>"With the exception of Murray Rubinstein and some minor players, the entire cast has appeared on one or more of the Star Trek TV series."
This is a great mini-spinoff from late-TNG era utilizing DS9/VOY set assets. John de Lancie has fun with his "Q" role and is as usual, a dick to everyone. The production is top-notch and features an elaborate TNG-era console bridge Excelsior class vessel set. We also get to see John de Lancie as Borgified "Q" which is a treat into itself. The notable criticisms is that actors set in fairly plain office chairs behind the otherwise elaborate set designs, I guess the intention from the sets as used in the Voyager episodes was to film the shots from the waist up so building chairs other than the Captain's Chair wasn't a necessity. There's also the continuity issue of the episode being set in the past, but using DS9-era uniform styles; I guess the TNG uniforms had been shredded or auctioned by this point.
As a standalone Star Trek episode, it probably surpasses 90% of the episodes Voyager ever brought to the franchise. It would be amazing to see this game and the other live action games remastered in HD if the original film elements still exist as extras on future DS9/Voy HD boxsets, but I'll keep dreaming.
