Star Trek Borg

Released in North America: October 31, 1996

Genre: Interactive movie

Platform(s): Mac OS, Windows

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_Borg

>"In the midst of a Borg invasion ten years after the Battle of Wolf 359, Starfleet Cadet Qaylan Furlong is given an opportunity by Q (John de Lancie) to go back in time and prevent his father's death in the historic battle."

>"The live action segments of Star Trek: Borg were directed by James L. Conway and featured the return of John de Lancie as Q. The duo had previously worked together on the Star Trek: Voyager episode 'Death Wish'."

>"The USS Righteous sets are mostly redressed versions of the sets of the USS Voyager from the Star Trek: Voyager series, with the exception of the bridge, which was a redressed form of the bridge of the USS Excelsior as seen in the Voyager episode 'Flashback'."

>"Visual effects shots for this game were originally produced for the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine pilot episode "Emissary" which also depicts the Battle of Wolf 359."

>"With the exception of Murray Rubinstein and some minor players, the entire cast has appeared on one or more of the Star Trek TV series."

This is a great mini-spinoff from late-TNG era utilizing DS9/VOY set assets. John de Lancie has fun with his "Q" role and is as usual, a dick to everyone. The production is top-notch and features an elaborate TNG-era console bridge Excelsior class vessel set. We also get to see John de Lancie as Borgified "Q" which is a treat into itself. The notable criticisms is that actors set in fairly plain office chairs behind the otherwise elaborate set designs, I guess the intention from the sets as used in the Voyager episodes was to film the shots from the waist up so building chairs other than the Captain's Chair wasn't a necessity. There's also the continuity issue of the episode being set in the past, but using DS9-era uniform styles; I guess the TNG uniforms had been shredded or auctioned by this point.

As a standalone Star Trek episode, it probably surpasses 90% of the episodes Voyager ever brought to the franchise. It would be amazing to see this game and the other live action games remastered in HD if the original film elements still exist as extras on future DS9/Voy HD boxsets, but I'll keep dreaming.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Released: September 1997

Platform(s): Microsoft Windows, Mac OS

Genre: Space flight simulator

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_Starfleet_Academy

>"The player takes the role of human Cadet David Forester, leader of a cadet group at Starfleet's San Francisco--based Command College. The player has to pass all the simulated missions, optionally including the infamous Kobayashi Maru scenario. The scenarios, in addition to simple combat situations, include a recreation of Kirk's near-disastrous starship confrontation with Khan Noonien Singh which Kirk ruefully admits is used to teach cadets to avoid his serious mistake that nearly doomed his ship."

>"On the PC, the game is enhanced with numerous interactive live action scenes (FMV) that can affect crew performance, and a storyline involving a terrorist group known as the Vanguard. These scenes feature William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk, Walter Koenig as Pavel Chekov, and George Takei as Captain Hikaru Sulu, as celebrity guest instructors at the school."

On the Klingon side, Christopher Plummer reprises his role as General Chang from Star Trek VI, and David Warner shows up as Gorkon for a few minutes.

Star Trek: The Next Generation Interactive VCR Board Game

Released: 1993

Board Game

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation_Interactive_VCR_Board_Game

>"The USS Enterprise-D has docked at Starbase 74 to undergo repairs to a damaged computer core that has been causing low-level malfunctions. The ship is practically empty, because Captain Jean-Luc Picard has granted shore leave to all personnel. The only people on the ship are the Starbase engineering team (the players) assigned to repairs."

>"Before the repairs are complete, Kavok, a Klingon who believes the Federation-Klingon alliance has made the Empire weak, hijacks the Enterprise and sets a course for the Klingon homeworld (Qo'noS), where he plans on using the Enterprise to start a war between the two space-faring powers."

>"The objective of the game is to regain control of the Enterprise and stop Kavok's plan."

>"The character Kavok is played by actor Robert O'Reilly, who is famous for his role on the series as Gowron, chancellor of the Klingon High Council. Jonathan Frakes contributes to the game by reprising his role as William Riker and narrating the beginning of the videotape via log entry. "

>"The video itself was directed by Les Landau and contains original footage filmed on the actual Star Trek: The Next Generation sets at Paramount Studios."

David Warner is a key part of the second half of the game and appears as a Fleet Commander. And I would put the trash that is Starfleet Academy in same post of Klingon Academy as if they are the same game, Klingon Academy is leagues better

OP here, my mistake, the video was made from clips of both games and that threw me off. I looked up Starfleet Academy on IMDB and couldn't find Christopher Plummer, thought maybe he was just uncredited. I see now he's listed under Klingon Academy and the video I linked was a combination of both games scenes.

Even the article I stole that line from mentions that fact, but I skimmed over it too quickly.
