There's rumors that these klingons are based off pic related from the old Phase Two stuff from the 70s that became the Motion Picture, so I guess this design pre-dates TNG.
No idea why they went with it though, the TNG klingons have a great design, these just look like videogame mooks or something.

I wonder if it's something like Caprica, where they really wanted to do their own original show, but ended up having to awkwardly shoehorn it into an existing franchise for brand recognition.
The only other thing is maybe with reusing this design and the old looking ship they were going for a nostalgia reaction… but who's going to be nostalgic for stuff Gene Rollercoaster threw out before most of us were even born?

I don't think either link mentions it, but David's "Hermats" can suddenly drop to all fours when fast running is required, which should make bipedal walking a pain in the ass, but ol' Pete doesn't give a shit because he gets to, once again, force abnormal sexuality into something because his brother enjoys cock.

It gets worse. Selar, in a fit of unrecognized PonFarr, starts having dreams of it, including one where it's drifting by in a pool with both huge tits and "an impressive bulge." Peter David needs therapy.
Those books were such a mixed bag. Some times they were incredible and very much TOS Trek, and sometimes they were just foul as fuck and as cringey as Twilight. At one point David has a Hank McCoy Beast expy (a sentient mugato who talks like Beast) running around killing people because he was in love with M'Ress, the cat woman from the animated series, who David had Red Dwarfed (via some sort of stasis pods) into the series, along with Mr. Arex.

I've got no love for those people, but I know how the game is played. Person A asks Comic Writer B for something, and Comic Writer B says "Sure! In fact, there's a comic coming out next month that addresses Subject C, just like you want!" Person A then goes away happy and eventually forgets about the comic because he's too busy mutilating stolen white children for the band's sideshow. But Pete is so fucking high on himself, he decides right then and there to reveal his pathetically low power level.
And then there's Captain Cummings tearing David a third asshole on his channel ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxLQnxOjHzQ) because Peter David is bad with money, which, to be fair, probably counts as a disability for a jew.

>Number One from "The Cage"
>Nurse Chapel
>Ship Computer voices
>All played by Majel Barrett
>Peter David decides one day that they're all the same person
>Not-Majel pulls a Highlander every 40 years or so, changing her name and identity so people don't know she's an immortal. She was Number One, she was Christine, and she provided the template voices for Star Fleet's computers at some point. And she appears to know Lwaxana Troi and thinks of her like family.

Looks like I missed out on some later books, because this cancer is news to me:
>Morgan's holographic form (and computer-based consciousness) returned to the Excalibur, (NF comic: "Turnaround, Part I") but became insane with power, threatening Starfleet officials, and was eventually destroyed by a computer virus developed by The Doctor, Seven of Nine and Soleta. (NF novel: Blind Man's Bluff)
"Soleta" is half-romulan because rape. Like Spock, she checks the "Vulcan" box on forms, but she's a lot more sarcastic than she should be. She was pretty cool, actually, although she recommended that Dr. Selar fuck the hermaphrodite, so she obviously needs to visit the Cardassian gas chambers.

>"The diversity! It burrrrrrns!"
The thing that really, REALLY pisses me off about this, is that there are aspects of this show that would actually have me at full mast if it wasn't for the cancerous aspects. I mean, Rainn Wilson as Harry Mudd? That might be amazing. The special effects look great, but the makeup guys need to be shot. There are parts of the teased story that intrigue me. It's just that there's so much fucking cancer slathered into the cracks in-between like caulking made of white glue and cheese.

To be fair, some of it is out of context. But if you're looking for a reason, it's autism plus being an SJW back when we just called them "Marvel employees." Ironically, David himself, after forcing that shit into the comics in the 80s and 90s, has been attacked multiple times for not being ENOUGH of an SJW.

The video makes many, many good points about how shit this is going to be. Some of which I hadn't even thought of, such as the fans getting sick to death of prequels. In my hatred for other aspects, I completely ignored that I, too, want to go forward instead of back.
Also, I would have been more than cool with the mongol-looking Klingons given the time frame, as it would appease my autism for continuity. I'm really mostly pissed about Best Race being cucked with those goonish heads.
The "race that's been bred to sense death coming." What the fuck does that even mean?
>Mom gives birth
>Doctor goes to stab the baby with a knife
>If the baby cries before the blade hits, they allow it to live, but otherwise they dump the body into the medical waste chute?
Retarded. I'm prepared to believe that race has a spider-sense, because that makes sense within the Trek context of some races having mental powers. Being specifically bred to "feel a little creeped out" when you're in danger of death? That's idiotic.

This is as bad an idea as the Star Wars prequel trilogy. "Oh, look at the cute kid! I can't wait until he sells his soul for something retarded and is made a quadruple amputee by his bestie!"

So, we draw ever nearer to this abortion of a show. I imagine we'll all end up watching the first episode just so we can confirm that we were right and that network execs are pantsu-on-head retarded. Is anyone planning on watching beyond that? If so, download it and deny them revenue for being a pile of rancid targ droppings.

Yeah, Peter David is an experience that's best left to the imagination.
I should do a story time of his Trek books, but I'm afraid it will summon Cthulhu if I put them all in one place.

>So she's not even some other species hiding out on Earth, she's just a human who randomly has Wolverine healing and immortality. Jesus, that's retarded.
Forgot to address this. She's no different than the immortal from "Requiem for Methuselah" who was a bunch of famous people from history. She was just more cunning about it.
That's Peter David all over, though. His books and comics are constant references to TOS in one form or another. Some are good, some are bad. In a New Frontier book, Captain Calhoun encounters "Odin," who was from the same race of "gods" as Apollo. One of his crew is a great-grandson of Apollo. The Nostalgia Porn is constant.

Is it still being blocked from viewing for north American Netflix users?
I stopped following it after I saw the trailer that got rid of all the white men on the cast (Including the captain of the ship).
When a show starts out trying to make up idpol controversy you know it is going to be bad (ex. Ghostbusters 2016).

No shit. All they had to do with the Ballbusters movie was:
>make it a sequel about a franchised Ghostbusters station in another town/state instead of yet another tiresome "reboot"
>shut their big fat yaps and not constantly make fun of "basement dwelling losers" who are really the only ones who would have given a shit about a new movie
>listened to Dan Ackroyd when he warned them about the shit-storm they were buying for themselves
>write funny jokes
>hire actresses who were plausibly intelligent

Is THAT what was going on with the dude that was in the pointless love triangle with the vulcan doc and that non-gender binary thing? THAT is why he was motherfucking immune to Q's power?
Goddamnit, I haven't read any of those books in over a decade and they still find ways to disappoint me.

>THAT is why he was motherfucking immune to Q's power?
I'm pretty sure, yeah. It was that, or he was an Organian. One was my guess and the other was the truth. I remember being disappointed that he went the other way, but I can't for the life of me remember which. I'll check.
Yeah, no, he's Apollo's great-grandson. I remember my guess was that he was an Organian sent to check on humanity to see if we were any closer to being what they wanted to see in us back in TOS. I was sorely disappointed.

Also, I re-watched that episode of TOS recently.
>"She had a brief relationship with Apollo"
should be translated as
>"Apollo took off with her, fucked and impregnated her, and left Montgomery Scott as the first man to be cucked by a Roman god since ancient times."
Apollo was an Alpha Chad.

>We had all these clues in the Trek world that they might have filmed more stuff than what we got to see in the finished episodes. There were photographs out there of missing scenes, and there were also the James Blish novelizations of the episodes. He was working from shooting scripts, basically, and those novelizations have scenes in them or moments that were not in the final episodes, like the ending of "Who Mourns For Adonais?" revealing that Catherine [Carolyn in the episode] Palamas is pregnant with Apollo's child. That wasn't in the episode, but you could read it in the novelization, so it made you go, "Is this something James Blish came up with, or was this filmed?" As it turns out, it was filmed.

>Wait, Kirk isn't tripping his balls off?
If only he were, my friend. That's from the "Death of Captain Kirk" arc, where a certain rat-bastard from the past shanks him. He almost dies, but Spock senses the telepathic death screams and gets there in time to stabilize him enough for McCoy. Kirk's confined to a hoverchair until his wounds heal. The Star Trek comics are just rife with weird fucking aliens on the crew, so I can't even just blame Peter David for it, because he's just continuing the tradition. They've got a guy who is literally Al, the tall faceless cop from Police Squad. For reasons I don't understand, his name is "Sterno."
