The best anime body right now for guys is probably the Kuroo from Krankhaus. But it's completely unfitted and unresponsive to any sliders.
Kemono will create weird leg problems if you try to narrow to pelvis down to male proportions.

It has an alpha system, but I'm sure the rigging will be an issue. The body comes boxed with a ton of clothing, but most of it has a particular style. You can kinda see what the clothing is like based on Krankhaus' other products.
Rigged accessories for the kemono or any other body won't work. Anything unrigged should be fine. You'll probably be able to wear standard rigged men's clothing too, for the most part.

Honestly, i like a more artistic feel to them, so I half edit them to look more like art/paintings then lighten up that effect where i want the focus drawn ( in the avatar)
As far as color schemes go, you can see i started out with some projector ligths in SL and that's about it, but the colors were too vivid and the image was too dark.
I thought about what kind of atmosphere I'd want for the avatar so i kept some of the reds and lightened up the shadows slightly and tried going for a more somber feel.

Camera tools in Firestorm and some other viewers can be pretty similar to real cameras, so real-world photo tutorials could help you out quite a bit. I like that shot, but the distortion around the edges tells me you took it at a wide angle, when it might've looked better with a narrower view from afar (to prevent the distortion). Maybe a lower f-stop to focus on the subject a little more.

Looks like an alpha texture lighting glitch.
A lot of people upload textures with alpha channels even if those textures don't need it. Stuff like this is the result.
If it happens to you you can fix it by setting the face (or faces) to no-alpha or masked alpha. On M3 heads it's easiest to set the whole head to No Alpha then find the individual parts, like eyebrows and eyelashes, and set them to masked (and adjusting the mask cutoff). The only blended alpha surfaces should be the blush layer, tears layer, and the eye detail layer. Doing this will also solve that issue where the M3 eyes turn into flat color circles.
