A few months ago, I'd have seconded the suggestion, but since Bento is coming "soon", I think everyone should probably just hold off and wait for Bento heads, since the biggest problem with mesh heads currently is that they can't respond to LL animation triggers (facial expressions), but Bento heads will.

The mesh heads to this point have been laggy and give you very little ability to personalize. I'll stick with the LL head if that's the only way for me to have my very own face.
I'm also not going to get a mesh head that's no-mod, bento or not, specificially because I put so much work into my avatars. I have next to nothing in my wardrobe that hasn't been modded in some way or another.

I'm with the cow on this one, modding is literally the only thing worth bothering with on SL, for me. There is not a single instance where a glowing body/head would look good. Glowing aura effects or something like that are better solved by attachments.

Except Utilizator isn't a programmer, he's an artist, and arguably a better one than the people doing other avatars.
If you bother to study the model, you'd note that the geometry is much more descriptive of the underlying muscle forms, with much nicer surface normals, and anatomically it is much more detailed while using fewer triangles. The UV map isn't perfect, but it is much closer to how most industry models are UV mapped (Generally pelt unwraps for naked bodies), and while yes the feet are weird, the hands have plenty of definition, the face looks just fine, and it is nowhere near low poly at about 50,000 triangles for a naked body. Just because it's a petite body shape and you like thick chicks doesn't make it bad.

50k triangles is not low poly. I am sorry you were not educated in industry practice. It is average at best, and then you have to consider the clothing and accessories that go on top as well. Spending 50k tris on the body alone is a huge budget. This isn't 2008, and this isn't an action video game. If it were 30k tris for a full avatar would be about the ideal budget. Instead it's 2016, almost 2017 and it's a massively multiplayer game, this means you want things around 15-20k tris, except the engine is old as dirt and patched together since 2003, so that's being generous.
