What viewer do you use and why? I know most are running Firestorm, but do you try other viewers? I have been using Project Vahalla for SL viewer as they finally replaced the shitty old viewer browser.

I've been using Firestorm from the start.
I like Black Dragon for its grafics but it really lacks a lot of features.

I reaaally wish that someone would merge Black Dragon's control scheme and graphics with Firestorm's functionality and features.

Firestorm, and it sucks.
Mostly because nobody has made the perfect viewer with:
Very lightly skinned default interface (STOP FUCKING WITH CHUI IT'S PERFECTLY FINE AS IT IS)
RLV/RLVa (They really need to combine these into one goddamn spec)
Fancy Graphics Options (Optional but def. preferred)
Havok Libraries
Maybe a stripped-down phototools floater (I really only want the dynamic time of day slider but easy checkboxes for attached lights and DoF might be nice too)
That's literally all I want
Exodus came close but it's dead and buried now. RIP best viewer.
Eagerly awaiting Alchemy adding RLV.

Exodus was cool until the dev's stopped caring about SL and only stayed around on it to be ironic (yes that's more or less what happened)

Black dragon is alright. Dev is a sperg though.
Can't go back to any of the other viewers because their control schemes are so awful compared to BD.

Black Dragon. Personally, Firestorm only has a few features I really wish BD had, but the BD UI and controls are so much better than other viewers.
Except the chatbox. No idea why the creator doesn't have the expanding chatbox so you can see what you're typing.
And the building panel. I think the creator suffers from "I don't build and don't care what builders say or want LALALALALALALALA" syndrome, much like LL.
Also, I'm like 3 versions behind on BD because that was the last version to have functional RLV.
To be fair, the UI and control scheme improvements really are that good.
BD also includes improved windlight and camera settings by default. I'm really not sure why no other TPV has done that. That is literally the easiest thing a TPV can do for the most improvement. Replace LL's shitty defaults.

Specifically regarding cameras?
Well, what I mentioned above was just better camera presets. The default camera in BD sits lower behind the avatar. Where the Linden camera sits high above you, aiming down, like The Sims, the BD camera is more like a third person videogame like Fallout, Skyrim, or any third person game since 2004.
On top of that, BD has "mouse steering" that you can toggle on and off by pressing the "V" key. This makes SL control completely like a third person videogame, where just moving your mouse moves your camera. Again, just like Skyrim or Dead Space or whatever game. Press "v" again if you need to build or interact with the UI or anything else that requires your mouse to be free.

in firestorm you can click on yourself (or on your nametag if you're covered in scripted junk) and control yourself like a 3rd person shooter, the same way you can in any modern MMO. You can even hold right click at the same time to move forward.
The single biggest feature of firestorm that is lacking in every single other viewer I've tried is camera constraints. The LL viewer SAYS you can disable camera constraints, but you still can't zoom out more than 150 meters or so, select things more than about 200 meters away, and does any other viewer let you right click on people on the minimap to cam to them?

>in firestorm you can click on yourself (or on your nametag if you're covered in scripted junk) and control yourself like a 3rd person shooter,
Sure, mouse steering is a little more convenient tho since you don't have to hold down. Although, in BD you can right click and hold anywhere on the screen to do the same thing. Just a little more polish to the control scheme but it makes a big difference.
>The LL viewer SAYS you can disable camera constraints, but you still can't zoom out more than 150 meters or so, select things more than about 200 meters away
BD has this.
>and does any other viewer let you right click on people on the minimap to cam to them?
Never tried the minimap, but you can through the Nearby People screen.

Did you know that in Firestorm, you can hold Ctrl/Shift(/Alt?) and use your scroll wheel to adjust the default height, angle, and distance of your camera? (So that when you reset your camera, it goes to that position.)
