It's an interesting thing; been going through the comic here and I noticed in the scene where Motoko's back up body is rotting due to bad storage, a few questions get raised.
First off, how the hell did she manage to get something so corrosive and rotting (later on one of the random gang members comments on the stink) on acrylics, silicon and aluminium. Even with the comment on anti-fungals, that's got to be some nasty mold to get it to actively break down all that plastics. Second, it's interesting to highlight the problems with black market stuff; no doubt this was designed to be of similar spec to Motoko's issued body but obviously not to the same standards if it's rotting away. She also doesn't mention natural oil or such (which I imagine to be vegetable derived lubricant or such) or something like that here.
Anyway, another thing that came to mind is plastic really doesn't break down well if it's sealed off like that so are these cyborg bodies made to be bio-degradeable? Or am I just overthinking things.
