Seeing these suggestions reminded me that there was once a time when people wanted live action adaptions of anime.

We unforunately live in a post live action GITS world, however while we may live in the ashes, what does everyone think of these choices, and would there be better suggestions either back then or today?

>Lori Petty

eh

>Billy zane

yes

It doesn't fit at all but I want it

>Julie Delpy

fuck no, Winona is a better choice

>Bruce Willis

no, Jesse "The Body" Ventura

>DiCap

why not

>Danny Devito

yup

>Uma Thurman and Cameron Diaz

oh fuck no

>Nicolas Cage

he doesn't look the part but he would make it work somehow

>boy george

Terrible fucking choice, there's a billion V-kei musicians who could play him to this day

>Johnny Depp

not a chance. Pick a model, have him underact like a motherfucker, V is supposed to be wooden as hell and look "gorgeous", not be a spastic manlet like Depp.

>Hugh Grant

no, pick a jap

>Chow Yun Fat

no, too tiny-looking

>Danny Devito as Buaku.

This fits too well. Too old to play him realistically now but damn.

I know he's supposed to look like a beefier Michael Biehn but here's my pick for MD Geist

I think it's a very good fit

That'd work quite well and he's got first hand experience of working alongside someone doing a suitable performance. He also, like you show there, did a pretty good job himself in Universal Solider.

If we were casting this in the 90s, then Ron Perlman would probably make a fantastic Batou both in terms of looks and acting,

Anyone other than the actress they got for Gally. Like this gal.

Batou's supposed to look like Steven Seagall but I agree that Ron is a better choice

I think Perlman looks a bit closer to the art than Seagal myself, but I can definitely see that with the hair and all. Also, like you said, Perlman would fit the role better. I can't see Seagal pulling off his humour and goofiness well.
