Shield Hero made me like this whole "guy with powers/skill going around fixing people's problems while also not belonging anywhere" deal and I remembered I also really enjoyed Mushishi, the blend of really good music and purdy animation gets me going. Any similar shows?

The closest thing to that description that comes to mind is Death March, but I wouldn't really recommend it.

IseSma has some episodes like that, although they have a distinct home, a large part of Garo: Vanishing Line, some of GATE.

Then Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi, where it's not a guy and doesn't fix a whole lot of problems. If you somehow haven't seen Kino no Tabi, there's that, and again Kino rarely fixes problems.

This might be a stretch, but I recommend Mononoke. The premise is about an occultist "medicine seller" who travels Japan during the Edo Period and vanquishes evil spirits that are terrorizing a specific location. It's in the horror genre so the atmosphere is very tense and nerve wracking in contrast to Mushishi, but it still has a unique art style and quality animation. I watched this back when I knew barely anything about Japanese history and folklore and I still enjoyed it.
