I grabbed the /ratanon/ board on 9chan.

If 9chan doesn't immediately die when some faggot decides to shoot up some burgers maybe we can use that instead of this rotten corpse.

I don't want to manage it of course I'll just transfer the account to whoever is currently taking care of /ratanon/

Link? Not even Google seems to know where to find this.

What's rotten and corpselike about 8kun? It's just slow as far as I can tell, and some of the images are lost. Does activity magically pick back up if we move to a new site?

it might thanks to crossborders

9chan looks interesting.

Some considerations without a conclusion:

- It uses Infinity Next. I like that. Unlike Lynxchan and OpenIB it's actually pleasant to use.

- Infinity Next had performance issues that made running it hard in the past.

- 9chan is run by (someone claiming to be) Josh of Kiwifarms fame, who created the software, so I expect he knows how to maintain it.

- Josh also ran (one of the sites called) 16chan, unless I'm mistaken, which also used Infinity Next. I used that, but I think it ended up dying. I no longer remember why. That makes me slightly wary.

- I'm not really a fan of Josh but he has experience keeping obnoxious offensive websites running so I expect he's good on that front.

- We already have a backup board at https://endchan.net/ratanon/ but it's not great.

- Moving from website to website a lot is not great.

- I think most people who used /ratanon/ on 8ch.net aren't even aware that it exists here now.

- I could probably move all the threads over to 9chan if we do decide relocation is a good idea.

- Trying the board can't hurt. So if you're reading this and you're curious, by all means, mess around on https://9chan.us/ratanon/.

- A token presence with a sticky explaining the current situation can't hurt and might help if someone looks for /ratanon/ there.

- Do we want crossboarders? This board is hidden to avoid those.

My email address is in the email field in case it's ever needed. I don't think I had one before.

I registered on 9chan as "turnstile". I think you could transfer the board or add me as a moderator without messing with account details.

>crossboarders

Who needs em? /ratanon/ is nominally about rationality, but in practice most of the threads are not. Many threads are either about the rationalist community or are just a bunch of rat-adjacent anons talking about whatever, with the shared cultural background increasing the level of /comfy/ness. Crossboarders probably don't have much to say about rationality and definitely don't have the shared background, so I'm not sure what they would contribute. More active imageboards exist if you want to talk with non-rationalist anons.

Likely. Could someone announce it where shitposter-adjacent rationalists gather? For example on #lesswrong.

9chan already got booted off its first domain and is now at https://9chan.tw/ ( https://9chan.tw/ratanon/ ).

Why did it happen so quickly? Was there an incident?

Someone reported it as "8chan persons, white supremacists"

It happened a week ago, almost immediately. Apparently "free speech" (Gab, Infowars, Bitchute) is fine, but "anarchy" (dolphin sex) is not.

https://9chan.tw/9/thread/1209

I don't think there was an actual incident, it's just pre-emptive.
