Scott's post didn't even touch politics as far as I remember.
I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm not American. I don't see that article as anit-trump, but that passage is a nod towards all those who were blown the fuck up by Trump winning and started looking for reasons. (deplorable, uneducated, racist, sexist, lower end of the misery spectrum)
What he could have done is actually write a personal extension to Scott's post, not just a reflection.
