4: hope the rest of the world swayed their opinion based on my assertion that nobody cared

We all see that you are riddled with remorse, but maybe your insidious malfeasance isn't quite as nefarious as it seems at first glance. perhaps there's a silver lining around your reprehensible dark cloud...

I think you simply cared TOO much, and you were so passionate about the topic that you didn't want anybody else to engage in a "less sincere form of care" about it.

Knowing they "might not care quite as much as you" obviously drove you to take measures you would have never dreamed possible before, abhorrent, unacceptable, unimaginable deceptive measures meant to manipulate and control the other 8 billion people out there.

But I think it was less an act of malice than it was an act of true caring.

And I find that to be beautiful.
