Ashley's FIVE Biggest Mistakes:
countdown in order of stupidity
5 : not applying for SSI before trial
since the court already knows she doesn't have a job, has no source of income, and financially exploits her mother, hiding down in mommy's basement, the judge will impose a harsher sentence… by simply APPLYING for SSI, it will demonstrate a certain amount of responsibility and stability, which will result in a less-harsh sentence.
4 : not going to a psychiatrist
they already know she has schizophrenia. they know she is a psychotic, unstable lunatic. unfortunately Wisconsin doesn't have a "mental health court", so they can only deal with the criminal aspect, not her psychiatric issues…. by showing proof that she has been proactive, and maintained office visits (more than 3) with a psychiatrist, and has been talking psychiatric medications, she would've impressed the court, and minimized her punishment.
3 : continuing to mooch off her mother
Ashley is 33 years old, refuses to get a job, refuses to find her own housing, refuses to help her mother pay bills, literally REFUSES to bathe (her mom told me) and absolutely refuses to leave her mother's basement… she's literally a 33 year old parasite, attached to her host from the downstairs basement, financially exploiting her elderly mother victimizing her…. the court system is aware of this fact, and once she is finally released from jail, she WONT be returning to her mother's house again…. by failing to find new living arrangements beforehand, she has guaranteed a cot at The Salvation Army Homeless Shelter.
2 : refusing a court-appointed attorney
this one's a no-brainer… even a complete idiot knows not to "act as your own attorney in criminal court"… it never ends well… never…. in fact, courts tend to hand out stiffer sentences to people who 'defend themselves in court', because it's an insult to the court system… (also: 98% of cases are pre-decided behind closed doors with the DA and Defense Counsel… by law, the DA is not allowed to directly communicate with the defendant, so inherently the DA can NOT negotiate with any defendant who waives an attorney) bad, bad, BAD move..
1 : disobeying the judge…. duhhh…
when the judge signed the protective order against Ashley, it was her "last chance"…. by violating the restraining order, Ashley automatically became GUILTY… and now, the judge is going to teach her what happens to people who disrespect the court and disobey direct orders… this was THE STUPIDEST MISTAKE ASHLEY HAS EVER MADE.
yep…. Ashley's going away for 12 months
