They normalise violence and agression for individuals who would otherwise not have been violent or aggressive, and got locked up for a minor crime. They are now much more likely to committ a more violent crime after their release, and what is worse, is that they'll do so for a relatively minute gain or reason. This is also why I believe therapy and rehabilitation procedures conducted by trained psychologists is a much better way to deal with crime, as they do in Scandinavian countries —Kalana Herath
