I was having this heated debate with a few relatives recently and they believe India is the best country in the world. I am ok with patriotism but its the arguments they made, to support that statement, that got me really pissed off.
For example, there was the usual India vs China debate. And to them, India is almost on par with China in all aspects. I have been to china and these guys wont ever be able to fathom what china is like. Then they confidently compare the manufacturing industry here with china's where again they will never have any idea how efficient manufacturing is there. Firstly it is super easy to find a manufacturer for any product even in tier 2 cities and then even smallest manufacturing shop has equipments that only big players have over here.
After that, there is the cleanliness debate where these guys think India is actually cleaner than many other 3rd world countries but yet again they couldnt be so wrong. I have been to countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and I found them super clean. These countries may be poorer than India but just because of the organization and cleanliness they have, they actually look richer. Also diversity, people keep saying how diverse we are with many languages, cultures, etc in one country. While i agree with that, there are still many countries in Africa that are full of different tribes with different languages, cultures, etc so we not unique in that department. I have also seen alot of Indians, Europeans, East Asians living in those countries so they dont lack diversity thats for sure.
How are we ever going to develop if people dont have the hunger to improve the situation here. When any bad thing pointed out about our country is taken as a serios offence and is counteracted by abusing some other 3rd world country that is also suffering with that problem. I am just concerned of our future.
